Aston Martin has revealed details and images of its first tie-up with design-house Zagato, since the two worked together for a limited run DB7 in 2002.

Based on the V12 Vantage, the new model – called the V12 Zagato – commemorates the 50th anniversary of the very first Aston-Zagato project, the DB4GT.

Dr Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin said: “The Zagato design language is a perfect complement to our design and engineering expertise. After 50 years of the two companies being associated with each other the partnership has produced some of the world’s most iconic cars.”

Dr. Bez went on to confirm “a strictly limited run of road going V12 Zagatos.” Before then, a stripped-out race-ready version of the car will compete in the Nurburgring 24 hours race.

Underneath the newly crafted aluminium body is the same 6.0-litre V12 engine from the standard car producing 510bhp and 570 Nm of torque.

Production is expected to be well under the 99 units offered of the DB7 Zagato but prices will be similar, with buyers asked to pay around £200,000 for the car.

The V12 Zagato will debut at the Villa D’Este Concours at Lake Como, alongside Ferrari’s coach-built Superamerica 45

Stunning

Agree with Kendo, An Aston that doesn't look like every other Aston (not that that's too bad a thing...)

The back end is just the right side of ugly but the rest of the car looks stunning.

And to think, if i win the Euromillions tonight, I could buy all £20m worth and still have change for the fuel....

Are you joking ?

This looks like a fairly ugly kit car to me not a car to lust over by any means .I agree that cars should not look identical to each other within a brand but this lacks imagination too many themes copied from the nissan 370Z or what ever it is called.

Aston at the front... Ferrari tail lights at the back?

It kinda looks like a cross between an Aston & a Ferrari... with even a hint of TVR Sagaris. For me, it doesn't quite gel together, but then I wouldn't say no if someone decided to buy me one. :)

Whoa!

I thought the DB7 Zagato was rather disgusting, but this one is an absolute screamer! I have never seen such a jaw-dropping Aston like this one!

Looks like a Nissan 'Z' more than anything else!

Looks like a Nissan 'Z' more than anything else. Thanks for devaluing the Aston brand!

Nissan look alike

It looks pretty much similar to Nissan GTR from many angles...especially at the lateral side. Not to mention the signature circular rear light.

Fire Callum. Hire Zagato

Admittedly, the last Aston-Zagato tie up created a ugly car. But this was designed to be the spiritual successor to the DB4 Zagato, and it does a good job. However, if this was it's purpose, why not base it on a DB9? Anyway, the car is good looking, bringing a Italian sting to the company's styling, which has got very samey still nice but now a bit old. Just one message to Zagato, please do not put unnecessary grills on which could swallow children, this doesn't do any cars any favours. Make more Astons like this!

Mix

This looks like a child of daddy Aston and mama Ferrari.

NICE TRY BUT..

I've always said that there is too much negativity on these forums
and still stand by it. I love it when car designers go against the
grain and cook up something a little different from the norm. Being a fan of Bangle's BM's I was and still am annoyed when I hear the usual drivel about him messing up BMW design. I've never been into sheep and always follow my own path!
But this, I am not keen on at all. My reasoning is simply that the
Aston Martin Vantage is absolutely perfect in its exterior design.
There is nowhere to go from a design as complete as that. I think
Zagato should know better! The've done some great stuff over the years- DB4 being one of my all time faves.. But, the Vantage is way over there heads. That one- I have to say- should be left completely alone. And when- at some point in the future- Aston Martin decide to do the replacement, I think they should leave the job to old Henrik Fisker. If anyone has a chance of progressing the Vantage's design, surely it would be him! Plus the Nissan GTR is a fantastic design in its own right but Zagato
should stay clear of raiding Japanese design language. Not a great look for them I think?!

Not sure about the styling here? The original car is a looker....and I think this is a tad over the top, especially at the rear. Strange how the front doesn't feel that different either, and I hate the current trend for blacking out the a-pillars too. Looks fine on a Saab or a Skoda, but doesn't cut it on an Aston. Of course, I'd take one tomorrow and make a fortune as an investment......but this could have been so much more in my eyes!
