Increased Camera Fines

The AA Motoring Trust has said it would be opposed to any suggestion that speed camera fines should be increased to pay into a fund to compensate crime victims, but can see a case for increasing fines on people who are convicted of driving without insurance or a licence.

Honest motorists already pay at least ΂£30 extra on their insurance premiums to compensate others who are the victims of uninsured drivers, the AA says. Drivers are already concerned that speed cameras are about revenue raising rather than road safety and this proposal, if it goes ahead, would confirm that.
