Force India has come close to that elusive first win in the past five seasons, without showing consistent front-running pace. For 2014, engine supplier Mercedes looks to have made the best of the new technical regulations, so the team will be hoping to make hay before rivals catch up.
Nico Hulkenberg returns after a year at Sauber, while Sergio Perez has found refuge after being dumped by McLaren, and will have a point to prove. With no headline technical signings or major sponsorship wins over the winter, it may be more of the same for Vijay Mallya’s team.
Our verdict: Hard to see where an improvement on Force India’s current midfield pace will come from. Could be in for another year of solid points finishes, but no more.
