Take a close look at the ratings and you’ll notice something odd. Despite a poor showing for reliability, running costs are only bettered by one other car. While owners are having to make extra visits back to the dealerships for repairs, it seems the bills must be virtually non-existent. The Touran also scores well for ride quality, while fourth for practicality is tremendous.
Compact MPV/MPV
Yet another under-performing group – the average score for MPVs shows that they can’t match the owner satisfaction of most other sectors. Top of the class is VW’s Golf-based Touran. Offering a classy package with fine racticality, it’s a good all-rounder that has seen off the competition, but it’s only managed to finish 26th in the Top 100. At least VW will feel encouraged that the Touran managed to better Ford’s newer S-MAX. A decent debut year has earned the blue oval car a silver medal. Next up is Nissan’s Note. It is streets ahead of any supermini-based rival, and has bettered the scores of established compact MPVs in the shape of the Ford C-MAX and Vauxhall Zafira.

“Extremely practical for a family of five, comfortable to drive for long trips and flexible enough to carry home very large items from IKEA.”
