I fail to understand how AE can report the Mitsubishi is off the pace. If you look at the stats, while the Chevy has a more powerful engine, it doesn't equate to greater performance. You will see the mitsubishi either out performs the other two cars through the gears or is on par with one of the others. Plus if it's your own money, wouldn't you want to get the most back come sale time? It has the best residual value so to say you're better off spending your money elsewhere, it wouldn't be on the other two.
I keep the Chevrolet Cruze over the other two. As a matter of fact, the only cars I would consider besides the Cruze is the Ford Focus or maybe the Vauxhall/Opel Astra.
I'm an American but honestly the Cruze is the first small car from Chevrolet I'd consider. I test drove one with a turbo and the car was fast. I also felt like it had an awful lot of features for an econo car. This coming from a life-long Toyota owner.
Did they copy the Hyundai's dashboard? Tasteful eh? It's a Chevvy - you just wouldn't - would you?
About as tasteful and desirable as a 10 year old Daewoo with furry dice in the window.
Cheap, but is it cheerful?
The cruze should have an extra display fitted on its dashboard showing the daily amount of its depreciation!
