Chevrolet has accidentally published performance figures of its new Corvette Z06 muscle car online. Specification on the new performance flagship wasn’t due to break until the Detroit Motor Show later this month.
Initial reports suggested power would be in the region of 600bhp, but Chevrolet has confirmed – albeit accidentally – the new Z06 will develop 620bhp and 880Nm of torque. It’s still unknown what engine that power will come from, but a supercharged V8 is expected. The new model is significantly more powerful than its predecessor, with power up from 505bhp and 637Nm.
While the car has yet to be fully unveiled, Chevrolet has revealed a teaser image showing a bulging wheel arch housing a huge black alloy wheel, with carbon fibre side skirts.
Late last year GM announced that Chevrolet would be pulled from the European markets by the end of 2015. The firm did state, however, iconic models such as the Corvette and Camaro would continue to be available in Europe following the manufacturer's withdrawal.
An official unveiling of the 2015 Corvette Z06 will take place at the Detroit Motor Show on January 13.
