Honda has already confirmed plans to launch a Jazz-based crossover in 2014, and this Urban SUV concept – leaked ahead of its Detroit unveiling later today – gives us our best look at how the newcomer will look.
The production version will be based around exactly the same platform as the next-generation Honda Jazz, and gives the Japanese firm a direct rival to models like the recently unveiled Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur.
All models in this segment have a focus on design and the Urban SUV concept's squat stance and swooping curves help ensure it will fit in when it finally hits the road.
The engine range is likely to closely mirror that of the new Jazz, and feature Honda’s fuel-efficient Earth Dreams units, including the new 1.6-litre diesel from the Civic range. That will mean emissions well under 100g/km.
Expect to see a price-tag of around £14,000 when the all-new crossover goes on sale late in 2014.
