It’s official: the Jaguar SUV will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week. And to whet our appetites, Jaguar has released this teaser sketch of its first ever SUV, along with a name: the C-X17 concept.
The sketch shows a curvy shoulder line, steeply raked windscreen and low-slung roof – all of which points to a sleek, road-biased SUV. Plus, horizontal tail-lights from the F-Type and a roof spoiler are visible at the rear.
The C-X17 not only drops big hints about a production car, it’s also being used to introduce a new “highly advanced, modular aluminium architecture” that will underpin Jaguar’s new rival to the BMW 3 Series, expected in 2015.
A Jaguar statement said: “The concept illustrates the diversity of vehicles that could be produced using this architecture, which underpins the innovative future of the Jaguar brand.”
In July we published exclusive pictures of how we expected the 2015 Jaguar SUV to look alongside the first ever official drawing of the Jaguar SUV. The sketch was drawn on an iPhone art app by Jaguar's Design Director Ian Callum back in 2011.
