If you find the current range of Lamborghini road cars a little tame, how about a fully-prepped race-ready version of the Gallardo? Developed in partnership with German motorsport team Reitler engineering, the Gallardo GT3 FL2 will compete against GT3-spec versions of the Porsche 911, McLaren 12C and Mercedes SLS AMG in the 2013 and 2014 seasons – suggesting we won’t see an all-new road-going Gallardo until 2014 at the earliest.
Developed with endurance racing in mind (so expect it to make an appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Nurburgring 24 Hours), the FL2 features brakes designed to last for 24 hours, reduced fuel consumption and a 25kg reduction in weight.
The angular vents from the updated road car can just be seen beneath the aerodynamic body kit, which consists of a shovel-like front splitter and the same carbon-fibre rear diffuser as the Gallardo Blancpain Super Trofeo race car.
The price has been set at €320,000 (£273,000) with the as-yet-unamed race teams taking delivery of their cars in March.
