The 2014 McLaren 12C has been snapped by our spies in Germany.
Having recently announced the track-only 12C GT Sprint as the latest member of the 12C line-up, McLaren has wasted no time in giving the standard 12C a fresh look as our pictures show.
However, the changes are purely cosmetic. The 616bhp 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine - which is similar to that used by the hybrid P1 hypercar - will not be getting any upgrades, McLaren has confirmed.
At the front, a revised bumper and headlight design are expected and, from the pictures, this model appears to be the 12C Spider, indicated by the two buttresses, which rise on either side of the engine cover. They’re constructed from steel to absorb impact in the event of a roll over.
Inside, the interior is likely to see a makeover too, but no details of any changes have been confirmed.
The current 12C Spider is priced at £195,000 - £19,500 more than the hardtop. Prices are expected to remain the same which will make the 12C Spider £3,436 less than its main rival - the Ferrari 458 Spider.
We anticipate that the 2014 model year 12C will be unveiled at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
