Chrysler 300C

Inside story on revamped 300C

Chrysler's 300C goes under the knife for a mid-life refresh

Chrysler 300C
New 300C has minor exterior tweaks

By Ross Pinnock

20th September 2007

It’s one of the most distinctive cars on the road, but that hasn’t stopped Chrysler updating its striking 300C. However, fans of the US brand’s blocky saloon shouldn’t panic, as the changes to the styling have been kept to a minimum.

Apart from minor revisions to the rear lights and the introduction of a lip spoiler on the bootlid, the exterior is almost identical to the current model, which has proved to be a hit with British buyers.

Instead, Chrysler’s design team has focused on the cabin in a bid to give the 300C a more upmarket feel and to narrow the quality gap between it and European rivals such as the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class.

Soft-touch materials have been introduced on the armrests and door panels, while the dashboard has a new centre console and revised instrument panel.

Buyers of the 2008 model can also order Chrysler’s hi-tech MyGIG entertainment system as an option for the first time. The electronic hard drive allows owners to store thousands of music tracks along with pictures and television shows.

Other improvements include LED lighting in the cup-holders and map pockets, along with a new Boston Acoustics surround sound system.

First deliveries of the revised 300C are expected in December. Prices are expected to be very similar to the current model, while the engine range remains unchanged.
