Lamborghini LP560-4 Spyder

The lid was lifted on Lamborghini's fastest-ever Gallardo at the Los Angeles Motor Show this week in the shape of this LP560-4 Spyder.

Powered by the same 560bhp V10 engine as the hard-top model, the strict two seater also gets four wheel drive and a series of unique body styling additions, designed to make the car look even more aggressive.

It's a direct rival to the likes of the new Ferrari F430 16M, which also enjoyed its first public debut at the US event. Though there is no word on price, the new LP560-4 makes good Lamborghini's 2006 promise to launch at least one new car every year. The model is available in a wide range of colours, and will be availble in the UK from spring 2009.

The launch of the car was a much needed shot in the arm for Lamborghini, which only last month was forced to close Orange County Lamborghini – officially the world's largest and most successful Lamborghini dealership – due to slow sales.
