It is amazing how many drivers still buy tyres only on price when rubber plays such a critical role in noise, comfort and safety. Cost is balanced against safety and performance in our tests, which this year explored new ground, as we took our first look at 17-inch tyres. These are used on popular models such as the VW Golf and Ford Mondeo. The PZero provided Pirelli’s debut win, excelling in the dry and the wet. It beat all rivals on the handling circuits, and did well in the braking tests.
