The 20th anniversary celebrations for Audi’s RS division have begun, with the launch of the RS4 Avant Nogaro. The special edition RS4 has been introduced at the Geneva Motor Show and shares a stage with first ever RS model, the RS2 which arrived back in 1994.
Exclusive Nogaro Blue paintwork matches the RS2, as does the black and blue theme running through the interior of the car. Alcantara and Valcona leather seats, carbon inlays and additional RS badging all feature on the inside, while high-gloss black window slot trims and matt black roof rails are added to the exterior.
Under the bonnet lies the same naturally aspirated, 450bhp, 4.2-litre V8 you’ll find in the standard RS4 Avant. That means the Nogaro special edition can go from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds, and hit a top speed of 174mph, the same as the standard car.
The RS2 which marked the start of high-performance Audi models, uses a 310bhp 2.2-litre five-cylinder engine turbocharged engine. The sprint from 0-62mph was dealt with in 5.4 seconds and top speed was 163mph. A six-speed manual transmission delivered the power to the quattro drivetrain, which had a manually activated locking differential at the rear axle. Production only lasted two years with 2,908 models produced.
Although there is no confirmation whether the special edition RS4 will be made available in the UK, Audi has priced the model at €87,300 (£72,380) in Europe.
