The Paris Motor Show signaled the world debut of this, the McLaren P1.

The P1 is the spiritual descendent of the legendary McLaren F1 hypercar from the early nineties and – on paper at least – it is worthy of that title.

With over 700bhp and an F1-style KERS system, the P1 is designed to challenge the new Porsche 918 Spyder and upcoming Ferrari Enzo successor. The car generates 600kg of downforce at 150mph which is enough to rival McLaren’s very own MP4-12C GT3 race car.

The design is certainly adventurous, too – though typically McLaren. The headlights resemble the McLaren badge, while the deep creases and sweeping body is reminiscent of the ageing F1.

Prices are yet to be announced but we expect the P1 to start at around £700,000.
