Meet the car that has the competition spooked! Rolls Royce has revealed official pictures and details of its scaled-down Phantom, known as the Ghost.

Designed to challenge Bentley's Continental Flying Spur, the Ghost is a smaller (400mm shorter), cheaper (£165,000) car than it's luxurious sibling and will be more focused as a car to drive rather than be driven in. Powered by a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V12 giving 570hp and 780Nm of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox the 'baby' Rolls-Royce promises to be an exciting drive.

With a kerb weight of almost two and a half tonnes the huge engine does an impressive job of hauling the Ghost to 60mph in 4.7 seconds and onto an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Meanwhile, economy figures of 20.8mpg and 317g/km of CO2 are by no means an eco-warrior's dream but for a car this powerful and heavy it could be worse.

The Ghost has double-wishbone suspension at the front and multi-link suspension at the rear coupled with air-suspension on all four corners to offer the smooth ride expected from a Rolls-Royce. Luxury continues inside the cabin with individual lounge-seating allowing for an optional massage function and cooling system in all seats as well as the usual amenities that are normally available on the Phantom.

Frankfurt Motor Show will be the venue for the Ghost's official debut with sales starting in Europe towards the end of the year from £165,000.
