Multipla Plays It Safe...

Fiat's Multipla has matured. And with its advancing years, it's dumped some of the quirkiness of its youth and settled for a more conservative design to appeal to a wider range of buyers.

19th February 2004

The round headlamps, curvy tail-lights and top-heavy silhouette have been dropped in favour of the family look carried by the Stilo and Panda - but the MPV is still innovative inside. The original two-row, six-seat interior remains, alongside the generous 430-litre boot. And when the passenger chairs are folded down, the luggage capacity increases to 1,300 litres.

Due on sale this year, and set to rival Ford's Focus C-MAX, the facelifted Multipla has an engine range that includes 1.9-litre JTD diesel and 2.4-litre petrol units. Prices will be announced closer to launch, but they are not expected to increase significantly.
