Next Voyager breaks cover

We hope Chrysler doesn't take offence, but our spy photographers have managed to capture the firm's latest people mover through this security screen in this week's mag.

Caught testing in the US, they're the clearest picture yet of the company's big MPV - and underneath the disguise lies a bold new front end derived from Chrysler's Imperial concept car. With a gaping grille and wide-eyed recessed circular headlights, the radical look is set to give the Voyager even more road presence.

Coupling that with a more angular design should ensure that the model stands out.

Based on an all-new platform, the MPV will still be available in both short and long wheelbase forms, called Voyager and Grand Voyager as before. Both versions are likely to feature seven seats and will retain sliding side doors. Inside, Chrysler's clever 'Stow 'n Go' system - which allows the seats to fold flat into the floor - is certain to appear, and with large glass areas, the Voyager should have an airy cabin.

The newcomer will use engines from Mercedes, including the company's 3.0-litre V6 oil-burner, complete with a column-shift auto. An on-sale date is scheduled for 2008, so expect to see the Voyager at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September next year.
