WAXING can be taxing and not something you tackle every time you clean the car, but you can top up that hard-earned protection with a detailer. Most are just sprayed on and wiped after washing and drying the car, and they provide a quick and easy
way of restoring that wax shine and water-repelling finish. They come in the form of spray waxes, quick detailers and sealants. We tested 10 top names to find the best.
Our detailers were applied to a sectioned bonnet that had been waxed and driven for a week before being washed and dried for the test. We assessed ease of use, and then monitored how well they beaded water over the next six weeks, which included the latest big freeze. A control section was left untreated for comparison – at the end of the test it failed to bead and got dirty quickly. Price was also factored in.
Verdict
Combining good value for money and fast sheeting, Autoglym’s easy-to-use Rapid Detailer was the pick of our bunch. Another top water-shifter was Valet PRO’s Citrus Bling, which narrowly took the runner-up spot from Meguiar’s Quik Detailer.

An alternative or maybe the same??
I have been using DEMONSHINE for about 2 years or so and managed to get 2 x 5 ltrs of it in a clearout at Morrisons for £5 recently. If you put 2 capfulls in a 2 gallon watering can and shower it all over the car the beading is instant and it can be buffed if required. Normal price is about £10 for 5ltrs. I use it though a special applicator fitted to a hose. The cost is a fraction of the items listed but I will admit possibly not quite the same product type. It does the job every wash for pennies and lasts to the next wash.
