New Phantom-based special celebrates the company's aviation history

Rolls-Royce has revealed a Phantom Coupe-based special edition at the Quail gathering in Pebble Beach - the first in a series of 35 models known as the Aviator Collection.

Finished in Aviator grey, it gets a contrasting matt bonnet plus matt-black dials in the instrument cluster. The aviation theme continues on the inside with an aviation-grade clock, while the transmission tunnel is finished in anodised aluminium to echo one of the most famous Rolls-Royce-powered planes - the Supermarine S6B.

On the inside of the glove box there's an embossed quote from the company's founder, Charles Rolls following his first flight with the Wright Brothers in 1908: "The power of flight is as a fresh gift from the Creator, the greatest treasure yet given to man."

There's no word on price yet but the standard car costs £253,125, and with its bespoke elements the Aviator edition is expect to carry a hefty premium.
