The next-generation Vauxhall Corsa will get a design inspired by the Adam city car, as revealed by this early prototype which is wearing the all-new front-end styling.
Under the disguise is a new low-set grille, complete with a single bar running across the middle and a large centrally mounted Vauxhall badge.
The new Corsa is due in 2014 and will be built on GM’s Gamma II platform, which also underpins the Mokka SUV. The alliance between GM and PSA will mean the Corsa gets engines from Peugeot and Citroen models, including a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol. We also expect to see a turbocharged version of this engine, which will debut in the Peugeot 2008 crossover.
Along with the new Corsa, Vauxhall is planning a new budget small car that will be a more direct rival to the VW up!.

A bit lazy of vauxhall, the Corsa came out in 2006 and this looks more like a second face lift than a new model.
Vauxhall let the ball drop on Corsa. This car is at least two years two late.
Vauxhall sales are falling in Europe. The axe must fall. It falls on the R&D guy.
That explains why Corsa will need borrow engines from Peugeot and Citroen.
This article is a little confusing as the images are of the 2nd facelift of the current Corsa with Adam cues but they mention the next gen car in 2014....these are two different cars (I think)...!
I agree with you. From what I've read Vauxhall have prosponed the next gen corsa until 2016 where it'll be built on the same platform as the peugeot 208 with peugeot engines. For the next couple of years I think they're just going to ADAMise the current corsa with an interior like the ADAM etc and maybe put one of the GMs new Small Gasoline Engines like the 1.0 litre turbo thats heading for the ADAM :)
So the corsa will be 10 years old by then =/ Other companies make new models in half the time... Vauxhall aren't doing too well.
Yep. I think originally Vauxhall were gunna bring out the next generation Corsa in 2014 using the same platform as the Vauxhall Mokka and Chevrolet aveo. But because of poor sales etc I think theyve opted to stretch the life of the current model for a couple of years and have the next gen be on the same platform as peugeot, with peugeot engines in 2016. Maybe even PSAs new "Hybrid Air" System
To anybody with a minimum of one eye, it's obvious that this is still the old Corsa, so unless it's the new platform underneath, it's a facelift to keep the corporate look consistent.
Let's just hope that the engines get an overhaul as well as the looks with the 1.4T and a new high power diesel being available across the range.
Not many models get face lifted twice though =/
It's a recession though. The eurozones crashed and people just don't have the money to buy new cars, so it'd cost too much to develop a brand new car. Same with peugeot. Thats why they're sharing the same platform in 2016. Until then I think they might be tweaking the existing corsa chasis etc
Yeh but new car wise we've got the clio, 208, fiesta, yaris, swift etc... All of which are a 'new model' and not a 'facelift'
Vauxhalls are not great, i wouldnt want one... but they arnt struggling for sales... top two every year friend.
Yep you're totally right. The next generation corsa is long overdue
Agreed this looks more like a facelift rather than an all new model. However the Corsa is a top three seller in the UK and for most, its the big discounts and spacious cabin that really help it stand out.
The Gamma II platform to me is already outdated in the new Aveo as its too heavy; nearly as heavy as the new Golf. I think Vauxhall/Opel have understood that they would have struggled in the long run with it and have accepted the wait to use a more lightweight base to help with efficiency
Eurojunk!
Not correct im afraid, sales are up in europe over the last two years due to flexible finance
