Amid all the unveilings at the Detroit Motor Show, Bentley has quietly revealed a Limited Edition Birkin version of its Mulsanne flagship exclusively for the European market.
Only 22 examples will be produced to ensure exclusivity, with the model taking inspiration from Sir Henry ‘Tiger’ Tim Birkin – the legendary Bentley Boy who raced extensively around Europe in the 1920s and 1930s.
The Birkin Mulsanne is marked out by its unique styling exterior features such as the distinctive exterior finish, exclusive 21-inch alloy wheel designs and numbered door sill plaques.
The already plush interior now features a 3D ‘Flying B’ logo stitched in the headrests along with picnic tables fitted for rear passengers and a tailored luggage set designed to match the interior of the car. A diamond quilting pattern has also been incorporated into the seats and door panels. Those in the back will also benefit from twin 8-inch LCD screens built into the headrests, a Wi-Fi hotspot connection and a Naim premium sound system.
Mechanically, the Birkin Mulsanne will remain the same as the standard model. Fitted with a 505bhp 6.75-litre twin-turbo V8 developing 1019Nm of torque, it’s enough for this 2.7 tonne British barge to hit 62mph in 5.1 second and go onto a top speed of 184mph.
Available to order now, pricing has been confirmed at €248,400 (£207,046) before local taxes, which will vary the total cost depending on the country the vehicle is sold in. In the UK you can expect the price to rise a fair way beyond the £225,800 mark for the 'standard' Mulsanne.
