Prices and specs have been announced for the three-door Kia Pro_cee’d

Prices and specifications for the new three-door Kia Pro_cee’d have been confirmed. The Pro_cee’d is available to order now, in two new trim levels exclusive to the Pro_cee’d range – S and SE – although the higher performance Pro_cee’d GT will be added to the line-up from the summer.

Two stop-start-equipped engines will be available, a 133bhp 1.6-litre GDI petrol and 126bhp 1.6-litre diesel, and both are available in both Pro_cee’d S and SE trims.

All cars come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while Kia’s six-speed dual clutch gearbox will be available on the 1.6-litre GDI petrol model in SE spec only.

Kia claims a faster time for the 0-60mph sprint for SE models, which takes 9.8 seconds for the S and 9.5 for the SE in petrol form, and 11.5 seconds for the S and 10.5 for the SE diesel.

The new Pro_cee’d's dimensions are longer and lower than its predecessor, and 40mm lower than the five-door Cee’d. The front doors are 270mm longer, at 1,410mm, than the Cee’d too, to aid access to the Pro_cee’d's rear seats. Boot space is the same as the Cee’d at 380 litres.

Instead of the Kia 1, 2 and 3 spec levels that are used on the rest of the firm’s cars, the Pro_cee’d switches to S and SE spec names.

The Pro_cee’d S features 16-inch alloys, black interior trim, auto headlights, air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth and parking sensors as standard. All models also get Kia’s Flex Steer system which gives three different steering weights – Normal, Comfort and Sport – that can be selected depending on the driver’s preference.

Upgrade to the Pro_cee’d SE and you get 17-inch alloys, electric seat adjustment, auto wipers, a seven-inch touchscreen sat-nav and a colour reversing camera.

Prices for the Pro_cee’d S petrol start at £17,495, while the diesel costs from £18,595. The SE petrol with a manual gearbox costs from £19,495, the petrol auto costs from £20,795 and the SE 1.6-litre diesel starts at £20,595.

All cars come with Kia’s seven-year/100,000-mile warranty as standard. Kia’s Care-3 all-inclusive servicing package costs £329, which covers the car’s first three services, or £609 for Care-3 Plus, which covers the car’s first five services.

I bought an entry model Pro-ceed in 2010 (very nice car) but it cost me £10,695 brand new from a dealer which was list price at the time. How is it possible this model is almost 70% more expensive? Unbelievable and certainly lost my potential business. This is just sheer greed.

This Kia is too pricey for its own good. The new ProCeed improves on the outgoing model. It starts with a 1.6L engine instead of the old model's 1.4L. That nudges the price well past £17k.

I agree, but there was nothing wrong with the old model. This is not significantly better as to justify such a price hike. I suspect this Pro-ceed will not be as popular as the last.

Not only is the new Pro_cee'd a much better vehicle all around, it has a lot more tech and a significantly nicer interior.

All the new tech items cost $$ and priced against comparable hatches w/ similar levels of kit, the Pro_cee'd still brings value to the equation.

The 1st gen Kia Optima was priced a good bit below the Accord and Camry in the States b/c it simply wasn't nearly as good.

The 3rd gen Optima has pretty much achieved pricing parity with the Accord and Camry b/c it is as good (in the case of the Camry - better).

So what would you rather do, get the old Optima at a cheap price which wasn't really good or the current Optima which is much better but priced alongside the Accord and Camry (still brings some value to the equation)?

MOST CARS IN THIS SECTOR ARE AROUND THE £18.000 - £21.000 MARK FOR THE MID SPEC WHICH IS WAY TO MUCH FOR MY LIKEING, COMPARED TO JUST A FEW YEARS AGO AROUND 4-5 THIS SIZE CARS GOLFS/ASTRAS/FOCUS WHERE AROUND £13.000 - £16.000 I KNOW VAT HAS GONE UP ASWELL AS EVERYTHING ELSE BUT THIS IS CRAZY FOR THE SAME SIZE & SPEC CARS, WAY TO MUCH FOR THE STANDARD SMALL FAMILY HATCHBACK.

LOOKS LIKE A UGLY VAUXHALL ASTRA WHICH IT'S BASED ON, NICE INTERIOR THOUGH LOOKS QUALITY.

Kia sold cars in vast numbers because they were well built and more importantly cheap. Sorry Kia your about to lose a customer with your greed.

Got to laugh at the prices Kia want to charge for their cars these days. They are a car manufacturer with ideas above their station.

Would you really buy a Kia Cee'd over Say over a mk3 Octavia Or a Focus for that matter, no me neither.....but that 7 Year warranty yep the Skoda it is

In some respects I disagree with people saying it is too expensive, the product Kia make is comparable to all the other manufactures why should they have to always be lower on price, provide the same quality and a better warranty just because of their past?

If they come up with a decent model name for it I might be interested. What does Cee'd mean anyway?. On other comments on increased prices - yes they do seem high for a cars that have previously had virtually no second hand value.

i agree that Kia should charge the same if their product is equivalant...but people will still see a Kia badge and think they are low rent....Skoda have takn 20 years to change their image...Kia need to price their car to sell

at least 10 per cent less

Sadly a lot of the increase in Car prices is due to the weak pound,in the last few year it has lost up to a third against certain other currencies. But I agree In this case I can't see how Kia can justify their new pricing structure.

Kia doesn't build cars made from old bits from previous model Golfs or Meganes (like Seat, Skoda and particularly Dacia)! Having test driven the new cee'd, the cabin makes you feel good and the engine delivers good mpg as well as a responsive drive. Proceed design is hot off the press and personally, it looks way better than either an Astra or Megane. So considering it comes in at a similar price and with way more spec, I think the price is fair...

To all those people who consider this to be poor value, try this; Go the the VW website and build yourself a golf with the same(ish) specification and then reconsider your verdict about 'value'.

To compare to a Kia Pro_C'eed 1.6DCT SE - £19,795, I 'built' a Golf GT 1.4DSG (140ps) with most of the spec of the Kia and the price was an unbelievable £30,475!!!

To make things clear, this was for a 5-door because the 3-door wasn't available with electric seats or DSG box and the Golf has one thing that the Kia doesn't - Adaptive Cruise Control, but apart from those major differences, the final spec was still short of the Kia.
To compare value, you've GOT to compare specs! I know where my money would go.

Skoda use current VW/Audi technology thanks, and are a hell of a lot better built and priced than this dogs dinner.
