Went away for two weeks over christmas and it started first time. in winter, I think that's great for a car that is 8 years old. Consumption isn't as good as the tiguan I used to have, and that's a much bigger car. even the lower cost of petrol to diesel doesn't make up for the difference. I regularly got 35-40mpg out of the tiguan. also expensive replacement keys are an issue as I was only given one by the dealer.

Warranty taken out at time of purchase saved a fortune as power steering, radiator and electric windows have all failed. had it not been covered by the warranty it would have cost over ł1000 to fix. Servicing at main agents prohibitive so local garage used which keeps the cost down. run flat tyres are very expensive to replace. used mainly for short journeys and fuel economy is quite poor.

New timing chainnew batterystop/start does not workcentral locking does not release boothood has stuck half-wayhood assembly rattles annoyingly. Mpg is nowhere near what the manual states or the government's figures. dealer says it is the way I driveif the stop/start worked it would make a difference.

Many rattles, two windows de-laminating, melted plastic covers in engine bay and some intermittent cold running trouble (jerking, knocking sounds). It does just slightly less mpg on the motorway than my 1.8 turbo golf gti mk4 used (cruise control 70mph) to but very good mpg in traffic and around town.

The rocker cover gasket is starting to fail.the roof mechanism has failed (fixed by dealer).the rear window shattered unexpectedly (fixed by dealer).minor trim issues. The mini tlc and tlc+ are excellent value for money.any extra work done at main dealer is at reasonably competitive cost.

No issues with starting, can go back to the car and know it's ok. Tyres are very expensive. ł55 tank lasts about a week. the exhaust blew and the replacement mini one was ridiculously expensive, ended up going for a stainless steel custom model which was alot cheaper!!

The car is on the button every time I use it, any weather any conditions the engine is strong and faultless. The minimum mpg I get is 34mpg this is around town and driven hard. motorway driving mpg is well into the 40's mpg and the engine is so responsive.

2011-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Nowhere near as good as it should be for a 'premium' brand but better than most. Fuel economy is ridiculous and my biggest complaint of the car. I average 34mpg, which is really quite terrible for a basic, low-performance car.

Never let me down. Run-flat tyres are expensive and apparently can not be repaired if you get a puncture, although I did find one tyre place that would repair them. uses expensive oil and needs top-ups, although no leaks.

2010-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Everything has been running smoothly, some small rattles which mini have sorted out, no major issues. Not getting much mileage due to majority city driving, so fuel costs are high, parts are expensive from dealership.

On our second mini, previous model was registered in september 2011 and haven't had any issues with either. Slightly disappointing mpg, but decent insurance and free road tax so all in all pretty good!

Been very good only needed a new clutch at 50k but as I'm a driving instructor very good. Cheap to insure not too bad on fuel costs. parts are sourced from specialist car dealers and are reasonable.

Absolutely faultless so far in its first 15,000 miles, and it hasn't even had its first major service. Delighted with fuel economy and cheap road tax, especially considering the performance.

No trouble apart from a glitch with ecu just after getting it. Quite reasonable apart from fuel consumption which is a bit higher than I anticipated and tyres are quite expensive(run flats).

Manufacturers part attract bmw prices, aftermarket are more reasonable. mpg is poor, given my journeys I usually see towards the top of the manufacturers claims.

It always starts - a couple of problems with parts failing without advance warning but that seems unavoidable. Any repairs/new parts are relatively expensive.
