Initially, the drop-top was due for launch here in April, but it has been delayed until much later in the year. Company bosses say this is because US demand has been so strong.
When it does eventually appear, the newcomer will be available only in left-hand-drive, due to a lack of interest from other RHD markets. It will join Fiat's Barchetta as the only car officially on sale in this country with the steering wheel positioned on the left. The Cabriolet will herald the introduction of a new 2.4-litre engine to the range. The 150bhp unit will initially be available only in the drop-top. Three trim levels will be on offer: Standard, Touring and GT. UK prices have yet to be confirmed, but DaimlerChrysler has hinted that the PT Cabriolet will cost from around £18,500 when it goes on sale here.
