This is the first glimpse of the new Kia Pro_cee'd. The three-door version of the Cee'd, which has been confirmed for 2013, will use the same platform has the five-door Cee'd hatchback, but has a radical design rearwards of the B-pillars.
Mechanically, the Pro_cee'd will also have a widened track front and rear for better handling. Engines will mirror those found in the standard hatchback, while the flagship model will get the 184bhp 1.6-litre turbo petrol from the Hyundai Veloster Turbo.
There should be a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed double clutch transmission, while the LED lights, adavanced ESP system and new safety kit featured on the new Cee'd will make it to the three-door.
A spokesman from Kia confirmed that the Pro_cee'd has been benchmarked against the VW Golf GTI, and it may be the starting point for a range of hot Kias, including the Cee'd SW estate, Rio supermini and Picanto city car.
The production version of the Pro_cee'd should be shown at next year’s Geneva Motor Show, with prices in the region of £20,000.
