08-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Comfortable and reasonably practical, the engine provides sufficent acceleration for pulling out and overtaking whilst also able to produce 50+ mpg. I find the ipod and bluetooth very good and easy to use although access to ipod tracks and playlists is limited. Both of these functions can be done entirely from the steering wheel. One slight discomfort is the accelerator, it is mounted from the floor of the footwell and not the ceiling, the salesman at audi said this was for extra feel, although I enquired in vw when test driving a similar golf and he was honest enough to say he did not know why it had been mounted in this way! It can make using certain shoes with unusual soles quite uncomfortable, causing muscle ache in my calf muscles! However, I now just wear trainers when driving and have no problems. Overall, I am very pleased with the car, it is a comfortable way to travel on the roads and offers a suitable balance of performance and economy for my needs, I would certainly recommend it a friend and am likely to consider another above other options when I come to replace it.

2006-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

It has been fabulous from new, epic grip in dry and wet conditions, good enough in snow and ice. it has never put a foot wrong, nor cost me additional monies at mots and servicing. truly excellent build quality too. I do not cover enough mileage on long journeys to make the most of my car's diesel economy. around the village I live in, which comprises country roads, with my short commute to work (I walk to work several days a week) to still get 38 mpg when the furthest I trael on a daily basis is 5 miles I think is ok. on a journey of 10 miles or more, it is regularly into the 40s mpg.

2003-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I had to replace the thermostat after I purchased the car. I had to replace the camshaft sensor/adjuster after 6 months of owning it. had ł600 mot, as the headlight had to be replaced because it was missing all the adjusters. Expensive tax - ł260 a year. insurance isn't that bad. petrol does disappear though. Very quick with the 1.8 t quattro. a bit of body roll and but stays stuck to the road through the bends. brilliant acceleration and pulling power.

I think that the Audi A3 exceeds expectations and it really is a case of you get what you pay for. It is a better car compared to cheaper brands I have had in the past; there is definately a difference in quality. The only complaint I would have would be that a piece of trim rattled at first but once had been fitted properly it stopped. That said the overall the experience so far has been enjoyable.

05-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Moved from vw passat to audi a few years ago and been very pleased. Good sturdy thud when closing the doors, very economical (2 ltr tdi averages 52 mpg) Reasonable prices at the audi dealership too - that was a surprise - i was expecting bigger bills but servicing and new pads/discs etc are realistically priced. I'd definitley get this car again.

2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Absolutely nothing has gone wrong. perfect reliability record. An average of 56mpg over 14000 miles is excellent in anyone's book. so very economical. on a cross-country or motorway trip I can easily get 65 to 68 to the gallon ! no serviceing costs so far -- it doesn't need a service until 19,000 miles have come up , according to computer info.

Cost: 5/5
55-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

The A3 Sport is a great car with remarkable fuel economy. Build quality is excellent and Audi,s free MOT and £199.00 service deal for older cars is great. Car came with an extra two years warranty into the bargain. Variable service only needed each 2 years approx. All in all great value for money as residuals are very good.

Cost: 5/5
2005-reg Petrol, Owner for less than a year

Haven't owned it long enough to tell, but the build quality is great. I don't bother to monitor fuel consumption (never have in 45 years of car ownership) but it doesn't appear to be that economical around town and on short journeys. I use premium grade fuel, which adds to the costs.

58-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Excellent build-quality , supremely reliable and very economical --- I get an average of 55mpg ! Comfortable , smooth and quiet drive with a superb state of the art common rail diesel. Plenty of practicality in Sportback version. What more could one ask for ?

Cost: 5/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

No issues in 18 months / 45,000 miles. Very good fuel consumption, averages 48mpg without trying at all. if I drove more gently, would easily achieve mid 50's as an average. will return well over 60mpg on a long-distance motorway journey at a 70mph cruise.

Cost: 5/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Its an audi it doesn't go wrong! Servicing is "on demand" thus about every 20,000 and reasonably priced. I have taken advantage of free inspections including free car washing. fuel consumption is excellent I can get 60 mpg on motorways at 70 ish mph.

Cost: 4/5
04-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Fantastic car, I normally change my car every 2-3 years,I have now had my A3 nearly five years and cannot bring myself to sell it, my finance is settled and I do not see the point in buying a new one. It is just as good today as the day I bought it.

Cost: 5/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Rear window washer failed at 43000 miles. passengers' door card developed irritating rattle at same mileage. 60mpg+ easily achievable if you drive with light foot. ł30 a year road tax. audi dealers are expensive however for servicing.

Cost: 4/5
05-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

Excellent to drive. Automatic car so great for long journeys and traffic jams. 05 plate but retains its style and has an impressive interior. Dealer's customer service was disappointing though - wouldn't buy another car from them.

Cost: 4/5
R-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Overall I'm very pleased with it, it just costs too much to run these days as fuel is more expensive and the car is getting older and things need fixing. But I have had 4 years of happy motoring out of it and its never let me down.

Cost: 2/5
07-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

The S3 is undeniably one of the best premium hot hatchbacks, but at £32k (with extras) it is woefully over-priced. Yes the cabin is smart, it handles well, goes well, and only the steering and suspension let it down slightly.

Cost: 3/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Worst part is the particulate filter - worst thing ever put into a production car. Servicng is wat you expect from premium brand - very good on fuel, if you have light foot you can average 75mpg easily.

Cost: 3/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Absolutely nothing has gone wrong. I'm averaging 56mpg and get as much as 68mpg on a long motorway trip if I stick to the 70 limit. trips to the pump for diesel are over 500 miles apart.

Cost: 5/5
2011-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Absolutely trouble free from day of delivery, not even a minor niggling fault of something not working. Fuel economy is good for a 1.4 but parts if required are extortionate in price.

Cost: 3/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I frequently travel upto scotland with work, and I view my car as my work engine. it has never let me down. I`ve just spent ł2,000.00 on my car, having it serviced + new tyres.

Cost: 2/5
56-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Sensible, reasonably economical but the best, quite powerful but not easy to use. Would be better with the DSG gearbox (or whatever Audi call it) but I haven't got that.

Cost: 4/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Absolutely no issues with performance. always functions as expected. Best motorway/a-road consumption is 70mpg and regularly achieve 55-60mpg. low tax and service costs.

2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

18 months and 52,000 miles its not let me down yet. Can't get anywhere near audi's claimed figures of 76.4mpg for this car, best ever was 61 on a crowded a12 at 55mph.
