A special edition of the BMW X6 M has been announced, limited to just 100 models

The BMW X6 line-up is about to get another exciting addition. The X6 M Design Edition has just been unveiled by BMW on its official Facebook page, and will have a limited run of just 100 models, with a new version on the X6 due sometime next year.

It’s based on the pumped up X6 M and features numerous exclusive design features inside and out. At the front the familiar kidney grille is finished in matte black and a carbon fibre front splitter also features. The crossover has also been fitted with enormous lightweight 21-inch alloy wheels and customers can spec the optional M performance coloured stripes on the bonnet and sides of the car.

Round at the back a carbon fibre rear spoiler and rear diffuser identify this model as the Design Edition and help it stand out from the rest of the range.

This performance focused styling theme continues on the inside, with a black and red leather wrapped dashboard with contrasting stitching. The sports seats also get the same leather and stitching combination.

Sadly, modifications to the X6 M Design Edition are purely cosmetic. Power and performance will remain the same as the standard X6 M on which the Design Edition is based, with the 555bhp 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 hitting 62mph in 4.7 seconds. Top speed is also limited to 155mph.

There is no word on pricing or a release date as yet, but the Design Edition is likely to demand a resonable premium over standard £86,220 X6 M, however BMW are yet to confirm if this variant will go on sale in the UK.
