Ford Fiesta Running Costs
Overall Average Rating: 77.96%
Position in the Top 100 cars: 96th
Having never been higher than 75th in Driver Power, the previous Fiesta’s 89th in 2009 isn’t a wholly unexpected result.
Despite the model being such a big seller, it’s a little curious that so many owners lack enthusiasm about their cars.
Decent scores for running costs and handling help brighten the Fiesta’s results sheet, but low votes for comfort and brakes undo much of the good work.
Manufacturer Verdict (Position: 21st)
Having made progress in 2008, Ford has dropped back again this year. It’s 12 places higher than rival Vauxhall, and its cars are rated for practicality and handling. Yet owners’ main gripe is reliability.

more or less perfect to drive. rear visibility and fuel consumption = poor. It doesn't go into reverse gear sometimes when you pull the gearstick into reverse so u have to do it again. rear bumper reflector broke after a minor bump. indicators on mirrors stick out so when i was reversing it clipped onto a wheelie bin and tore off the whole mirror casing, £36 to replace the plastic cover. when your running low on fuel the trip computer has a mind of its own and will keep on changing how many miles is left. front left speaker has started to rattle when u put it on loud. sum cheap plastics in the interior. design inside and out is great. boot could be bigger. overall however extremely happy with it, handles very well, ride is very good, sound system very good.

I like the new Ford Fiesta VERY Much, the styling, interior comfort, equipment levels, handling etc. The ONLY thing that I am upset by is the stated round town fuel consumption of 37-38mpg I get around 30mpg and I drive like a saint trying to achieve that. Can you imagine if I drove with a heavy foot. I have even written to Ford about it, their answer was "Our fuel figures are produced with a vehicle on a rolling road". HOW can that be indicative of town driving, with traffic lights, hills, etc???

The latest Fiesta has great styling and in the 1.6 petrol, good performance. I am currently getting 40mpg with a mixture of mainly town motoring + some motorway.
Enough room although fully folding rear seats would have been better.
Radio, CD, optional bluetooth all work very well. Voice control works well but sequence could be shorter. Now we have colder weather, Quickclear front screen is a real bonus together with the climate control.
A great car to drive.

I love it. I have every extra and paid the price of a much lower spec model. I have had it for 3 months but feel like it is part of me and part of my life for much longer. I would recommend it to anyone and all my friends/family are jealous of its leather seats and gadgets/safety features and have all asked for a drive of it. I don't want to ever have to exchange it.

Although it does what it shuold as a supermini, some of the plastics are of poor quality and have sharp edges. The water pump failed just after the three year warranty and a suspension spring also broke which I would not expect to happen on a car used around town and with only 20000 miles on the clock at the time. Ford were not interested in helping with either issue.

We haven't treated the car very well, our Fiesta has suffered neglect and a lot of abuse and yet nothing has ever gone wrong and it still provides plenty of reliable transport. Minor trim needed replacing but a spare part was easily found and cheap too. Driving is fun, the handling is great and power is sufficient most of the time. Overall a great little car!

OK for everyday commuting, but longer journeys become tiring. Fuel consumption is vastly overestimated by Ford. Struggle to get 38-40 mpg for 1.2 petrol engine ( and I'm no boy racer!) Electrics feel cheap quality.
This model's interior is improved over previous model - less hard plastic, but still some way to go.

The new Fiesta is a dream to drive, especially in 'Zetec S' guise! My only gripe is that fuel economy in my diesel is not quite as efficient on a combined cycle as I was hoping for after reading the Ford literature. Overall, I've been very impressed with the car and handling is brilliant on it...

I have the Fiesta Titanium 1.4 and it is a brilliant car to drive!! The economy is very good and on even short journeys it always returns about 49mpg. and mid to upper 50s on longer runs.I am 65 years old and still like to get my foot down! My other car is an MGF but that is another story!!!

lts a Ford,lt does what it says on the tin,
Apart from the Display keeps saying DONT DRIVE go straight to a dealer,But nothing is wrong it still go's.
What a comedown from a Golf,
I miss the Esp Tcs etc,
Built to a minimum standard and it is expensive,
Wish l had waited for the new Polo.

under powered; clutch pedal travel is large causing me to either stretch to put the clutch down or sit too close to the steering wheel.
I purchased the car with economy in mind but find it is not so economic as I expected.

08-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years
Very good. Fiesta has been cheap to run and practical. The only thing that has gone wrong was when I hit a pothole and needed two new wheels as they were bent. This was not the fault of the car, but the council's!

08-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years
Great to drive with the Torquey 1.6 TDCi engine and very economical 60+ mpg, cheap to service at only £95. Plenty of space and great ride and handling as you'd expect from a Ford. I wish I had bought 2!

It's OK - but no more than that. Had a petrol Focus before, which is an all round better drive. The economy in the Fiesta though is great. Next time want a Focus diesel to get the best of both worlds.

I am a little bit dissapointed in my Ford Fiesta. It is not as economical as I thought it would be and replacement parts are far more expensive than they should be considering the price of the car.

small cheap runaround with resonable features in the top range models. However poor fuel economy and age of the car means few faults with the exhaust etc. Overall average.

I really like the car. Fun to drive and Quick. Has returned over 30mpg so far in its life which for my largely Urban driving and a 2.0 petrol engine is not bad at all.
