The current Maserati Quattroporte has been around since 2004, so it’s fair to say that the all-new model seen in these spy pictures is well overdue.
The biggest change reportedly comes with the addition of four-wheel drive to some of the more powerful models, and a lighter construction that makes use of aluminium and carbon composites to reduce weight by more than 100kgs.
A 4.7-litre V8 engine will return to the Quattroporte line-up boasting almost 500bhp, while a V6 engine is also likely to be introduced to the range as an entry-level model.
To go with the big changes underneath the skin, Maserati will introduce a bold new look inspired by the Kubang SUV concept. There’s not much to be gleaned from this mule but expect to see sharper lines, a wider grille and LED lights at the front and rear.
These shots do reveal the interior, which shows a much simplified and more modern design. Quality looks as impressive as ever, though, with leather across the dashboard and seats.
The new Quattroporte will be unveiled towards the end of this year, priced from around £90,000.
