This new city car should create a buzz among Citroen fans. It’s a new electric version of the C1.
Badged the C1 ev’ie, the newcomer is actually a battery-powered conversion – and the UK’s first all-electric four-seater, according to the French firm and project partner, the Electric Car Corporation (ECC).
On sale now, the C1 ev’ie has a 70-mile range and can be fully charged in six to seven hours from a domestic 13-amp socket for only 90p. But at £16,850, the C1 ev’ie is £9,000 more than the cheapest C1.
The ev’ie is the first of what’s likely to be numerous aftermarket EV conversions following the Government’s pledge to offer motorists electric car grants of up to £5,000 from 2011.
