More plans have been revealed about the scorching Nissan GT-R Nismo, which is edging ever closer to production.
Development boss Andy Palmer told Auto Express: “I drove it on Friday at the Nurburgring, as part of its shakedown, and it it’ll be darned quick round the 'Ring.
“The only thing now is there is a lot of tuning to be done on tyres and aero packs before we show it to the market.
“There’ll be more power, less weight, better aerodynamics, better tyres. But a lot of the improvements come round the aerodynamics, and we are working with Williams aiding and abetting us.
“It’s all about getting downforce around curves, and a dramatic engaging drive - it’s a real racing car.”
Palmer explained why he was so keen for the Nissan GT-R Nismo to deliver a record time around the Nurburgring.
“It’s an interesting way for us to tell the story. It speaks of Nissan’s desire to be democratic, to make great sports car affordable. If you can be as quick around the Nurburgring as a one million dollar car, it helps you lot know as to how good the car is.”
Suggestions that the model will be able to dispatch 0-60mph in two seconds were denied, however.
“No it won’t go that quick,” said Palmer. “There’s been a lot of speculation, but it won’t be that quick.”
