You don’t buy a sports coupé or Roadster for its versatility, so putting the TT’s poor practicality aside, it’s more than meeting owners’ expectations.

Handling, ride and brakes are all praised, but it’s the performance drivers love most, rating it sixth. What drags down the overall score is its lacklustre reliability and little better than average build quality.

Manufacturer Verdict (Position: 11th)

A solid showing sees Audi hold on to its 11th position. Drivers said their cars were the third best built in the country, while the maker was also in the top 10 in the braking and performance charts.

It looks great especially on the French Motorways with the roof down. Despite being automatic (which I find essential for town driving) the 250bhp V6 engine is alarmingly quick without engaging the sports setting which I have only ventured to use once - it is all too easy to reach way over the ton when overtaking. The car is one of the quietest I have ever driven until you accelerate hard when the engine leaps into life with a deeply satisfying throaty roar.
A couple of annoying features - at low revs the automatic gearbox control doesn't seem to know whether to be in 1st or 2nd gear - if it stays in 2nd the take off is smooth but at a standstill there is an annoying vibration; if it kicks down to 1st gear the take off is rather uncontrolled - a bit like a horse bolting, which is a bit alarming in heavy traffic.
Secondly despite the worst weather we have had for decades I really expected the quattro four wheel drive to perform well in the snow however even with Audi wide track tyres and traction control system the grip was very poor compared with other four wheel drive vehicles.

Blistering performance with a great exhaust sound. The TT is a very good car indeed but the TTS is something else.
Overall design of the car, the build quality and interior design is second to non in its class. Looks fabulous. Nothing id rather own till i can afford an R8 Aston or Lambo... or have kids !!!!!
Interior storage and boot space not bad by 2 seater roadster standards
Huge desirability means solid residuals so overall costs are suprisingly low.
Amazing S tronic twin-clutch automatic transmission means i will never drive a manual again!

Downsides WHY ARE AUDI SO STINGY WITH STANDARD EQUIPMENT ON A HIGH SPEC EXPENSIVE CAR. Also BOSE needs to be replaced by the B&O systems in A4 A5 etc. far superior.
Sat nav a real pain to navigate, why not touch screen? a tom tom is far superior

Overall though the car is everything i wanted and more. Im a big fan of my local audi dealerships quality service and standards. Now on my 3rd TT roadster.

cars DSG gearbox and flappy paddle semi automatic make this car perform like a sports car. It is a wolf in sheeps clothing, Build quality superb. Heated seats and seating very comfortable. I previously had a Mercedes C200K sports coupe. If the TT had locator lighting and rain sensor wiperblades and the panoramic sunroof of the Mercedes you would have the perfect car!! The Mercedes was scatty and jumped about on its steering ,handling was poor which is the reason I changed!

Excellent performance for size of engine. Economy on long runs is also very good. Back seats are only for very small people, especially the headroom. With the seats down the luggage space is very good for a sports car. After almost 3 years a small rattle has developed at low speeds and the leather seats have sagged a little.

I love the style, Performance and Image. I hate the dealerships and the elitist attatude and the price of servicing they assume you will pay unless you ask how much it will cost and then they will match price.

I hate the fact that niggles on the earliest of model still persist in car of mid run of production.

The Audi TT has been a very reliable car that I have enjoyed owning for the last 34 months. It is surpringly practical for a coupe as the seats fold down meaning you can get big loads in. The 2.0l petrol turbo has adequate performance and achieves over 30MPG

An absolute exhilarating drive. Car communicates with you at every point, in turns, during acceleration and braking - it's absolutely sure of itself. Makes you want to just go for a drive, even when you don't need to.

great car and seriously underated by faux petrol heads.this is coming from someone who has actually owned 2 300 plus bhp imprezzas and has been doing track days for the past 10 years.

after 3 years of driving this model, I still enjoy its comfort and performance, especially the DSG gearbox. The load space behind is very good for a 'sports hatchback'.
