This is our first glimpse of the Lexus CT200h facelift. Our spies spotted the hatchback completely undisguised recording a TV ad in North America. We're expecting to see the newcomer at the Guangzhou and Tokyo motor shows later this month.
The biggest changes to the Audi A3 rival appear to be at the front end, with the CT200h adopting Lexus’ signature spindle front grille like that found on the IS saloon. Judging by the more angular front and rear bumpers along with the large alloy wheels, this CT200h could possibly be the range-topping F Sport variant.
The luxury compact saloon segment is fast becoming one of the most competitive sectors with the recent addition of the Mercedes CLA and the upcoming BMW 2 Series. With that in mind a saloon version of the CT200h is a possibility.
We don’t have any shots of the interior but the design is likely to remain unchanged from the outgoing model. So too is the engine line-up, which currently consists solely of a 98bhp 1.8-litre petrol engine twinned with an 80bhp electric motor. Economy is claimed to be 68.9mpg.
After its unveiling later this month we'll see the updated 200h in showrooms during early 2014. Prices are expected to be unaffected despite the facelift, so look out for a starting price in the region of £22,000.
