We outlined top-secret plans to build a performance DS3 12 months ago - and a recent leak provided exclusive spy shots proving that the car is on the way. But as these images show, the production version is raring to go ahead of its Geneva World debut next month.
The hot-hatch will be highly exclusive too. With only 1,000 units scheduled to be sold when it hits showrooms later this year.
But if you do manage to get your hands on one, you won’t have much problem standing out from the crowd.
Sharing the same bold styling blueprint as the standard car, the DS3 Racing comes with a dark grey body contrasted with vibrant, bright orange-coloured roof, side mirrors, 18-inch alloy wheels, brake callipers and front grille surround with integrated orange chrome chevrons.
The Racing also gets a sporty carbon finish around the front bumper, wheel surrounds and side skirt.
Under the bonnet there’s a more powerful version of the firms turbo-charged 1.6-litre THP (Turbo High Pressure) engine, with the Racing spec unit capable of producing 196bhp, compared to the current DSport range-topper, which delivers 147bhp.
This means the fastest DS3 in the line-up will take only 6.9 seconds to go from 0-62mph and will be capable of a top speed of 140mph. This amount of power sits the Racing between MINI’s Cooper S and JCW, both of which use a version of the same engine, and on a level with rivals like
the Renaultsport Clio 200.
And it’s not just straight-line speed that has been fine-tuned. As well as a 30 per cent increase in power from the same sized engine, the DS3 Racing gets adapted suspension, with both front and rear tracks gaining 30mm in width and the ride height has been lowered by 15mm too.
The front and rear dampers have also been appropriately tuned to handle the extra power.
All this results in more precision, control and sportier handling. An enhanced braking system with 4-piston callipers incorporated into the front discs drastically improves stopping power, while the exhaust system has also been restyled.
On top of all this we expect the DS3 Racing to come with its fair share of limited edition badges and plaques, helping to further distinguish it from the rest of the range.

Looks very Punt-able this car...However the orange dash aint to my taste and is rather garish looking (hopefully a delete option for that...Should have made it body coloured gun-metal grey instead?)
The UK loves hot-hatches and this definitely sounds like a pukka wannabe rally racer hot-hatch!
Still would stick with a previous shape Type-R though thanks...But good effort Citroen, in providing a "different" and alternative type of Mini rival...
To think that this was the same company that produced the original DS and the SM!
Orange highlights, fake carbon & leather added to what is essentially a weak bread van, a hot hatch do not make!
Hmmm looks like the sort of model that would be used to go shopping, but with orange painwork everywhere, performance sounds great, but the car in your picture does not look like a sporty car, if you take away the frills.
Citroen have the ingredients for a great little car here - by the sounds of things it's got all the necessary performance features to ensure that it cuts the mustard. Why then, must the already bold DS3 be made to look so overstyled that it borders on the naff? What is Citroen thinking covering it with randomly placed stickers? And the colour scheme needs a rethink - fine, gunmetal grey and orange, but far too much of the latter makes the car appear garish. Subdue the colour, delete the stickers and then this Citroen will be on a par with the MINI. At the moment, it looks like a car that has already received the boy racer treatment from a MAX POWER subscriber!
Didn't I see something like this in the movie Judge Dread? If not, it'd fit right in...
Also, does it come with complimentary Oakley Sunshades so one can look at the dash without hurting ones eyes... :)
It's entirely possible that this car isn't aimed at my demographic...
Called into my local Citroen dealer to look at the DS3 at the weekend (first time ever).
I thought the cost of the Mid range model was a complete joke at £14,800.
In a years time my guess would be £9000.
Get real Citroen, your not BMW or Audi.
Audi are nothing but dressed up VW's. They haven't been around as long as Citroen. Remember people that Citroen have been a luxury car make of the past and are now doing it now again. People are two bothered about badge snobbery. I think it's funky and better than the other so called hatches which are out today. That's from a Merc owner. Audi will never have the history of a Merc or Citroen.
any cars got more room then the rear of a mini, but its a Citroen so how long till it gets tierd and falls apart. and loses 90% of it value after a week,
Audi = Made up VW's. Citroen = Indvidual. Merc is a Merc. At least they have got haven't a morgue of a dashboard area. I wonder if half the people have on here have been to see it in the flesh before making comments. All cars loose value and Audi fall into that category. I wonder if the people on here know anything about resale values. If u want a car that keeps it value it aint a Audi. A Jag keeps it value better as do a few of the Mercs.
The show version is too garish for the road and cheapens the brand profile Citroen should be aiming for with the DS range.
Under the bling, the car has a taut, almost muscular stance that looks fresh, modern and sporty. Please don't spoil it with too many addenda.
I stand (partly) corrected re: my earlier comments above (Too many naff frills, where are the basic quality ingredents???)
I've seen several DS3s recently in the metal and they look SENSATIONAL - although I'm still not sure about this ones (above) garish trim.
