New special-edition Citroen C1 Connexion was crowdsourced on Facebook and costs £9,495

Pictures and details have been released of a new special-edition version of the Citroen C1 city car.

The Citroen C1 Connexion was created with input from Facebook users, who were invited to post their ideas of what it should look like and which equipment it should be fitted with. More than 24,000 designs were submitted, and the final car is based on the most popular design.

The C1 Connexion gets 14-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and Caldera Black metallic paint, with contrasting Scarlet red detailing on the door handles, mirrors and rear number plate surround.

On the inside, there are also Scarlet Red highlights in the cabin, as well as Scarlet Red carpet mats, door sills and centre console, with red surrounds on the door trims, air vents and electric window buttons. The dash also has a red rev-counter and speedometer.

The 67bhp 1.0-litre petrol engine comes with a five-speed manual, and is capable of returning 65.7mpg and 99g/km of CO2. Equipment includes LED daytime running lights, air-conditioning, ABS and four airbags.

The C1 Connexion is on sale now, priced from £9,495 for the three-door and £9,845 for the five-door model. This is a £500 premium over the VTR trim, but the options are worth £925.
