The 2012 World Rally Championship is drawing to a close and with two stages to go, Sebastian Loeb has already been crowned champion – for a record ninth time.
That didn’t stop our man Mat Watson making the trip to Citroen Racing’s test facility near Paris, for a white-knuckle ride in its DS3 rally car with Loeb’s teammate – Mikko Hirvonen.
Hirvonen is currently second in the championship for the Citroen World Rally Team, so knows how to pilot the 300bhp hatchback around some of the world’s toughest rally stages.
Team Citroen’s DS3 has a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine with a six-speed sequential gearbox. It also has both front and rear mechanical auto-locking differentials.
Watch the video to see Mat’s face as he's slung around the tree-lined test-track at over 100mph.
