Jaguar XF R-Sport Black edition launched
Jaguar has announced a run-out special edition of its XF saloon and Sportbrake, as well as a raft of spec changes across the range
It's no secret that Jaguar is set to bring the next-generation XF executive car to market in September this year. So to maintain the appeal of the current model, the firm has launched a run-out special edition, called R-Sport Black. Alongside this new arrival, the range is now streamlined with changes to engines and specs, adding extra value.
The company claims the XF R-Sport Black – which starts at £38,350 and is available only with the 198bhp 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine – offers £8,770 worth of enhancements for just a £2,100 increase over the standard R-Sport spec. On the outside, these include 20-inch black 'Kalimnos' alloy wheels, the 'Black Pack' detailing changes and five no-cost colours.
In the cabin there is now a standard-fit 770W Meridian Surround Sound System, plus 'bond-grain' leather sports seats with an 18-way electric memory function. The R-Sport Black is limited to just 100 models in the special 'Kyanite Blue' paint option, and is available in saloon and Sportbrake form.
Other changes to the BMW 5 Series rival include the across-the-range addition of standard-fit Winter Comfort and Parking Packs – together, these bring heated seats and windscreen, front parking sensors and a rear-view camera.
Portfolio spec XFs and above now include a Blind-Spot Monitor, and most models get uprated alloys, trims and media systems as standard. The old SE, SE Business and Premium Luxury spec Jaguar XFs have been dropped, alongside the 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine and the 237bhp version of the 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel.
This means the only petrol engine left in the range is the 5.0-litre V8, which delivers 503bhp in the XFR and 543bhp in the XFR-S.
