The new Citroen C3 Aircross is one of many small SUVs buyers have to choose from – the SEAT Arona, Hyundai Kona, and Kia Stonic all fall into the same category. While it is never going to set your trousers on fire, it does well at cruising and returns strong fuel economy.
To drive, the Aircross feels like a taller, larger version of the regular C3. The chassis is not the most modern available – its roots can be found way back in the Peugeot 206, but regular updates have kept its performance respectable.

Part of the funky styling is the floating roof design, which can be further enhanced by specifying a contrasting roof colour to that of the body. Inside there is a whiff of C3, but generally it feels like a more mature product, especially when you select options such as the ‘Metropolitan Grey’ ambience pack.
The engine range consists of a 1.2 petrol and 1.6 diesel, both available in various states of tune and both do well in comparison to others in the same class. As mentioned above, the economy is good, meaning that overall the C3 Aircross should not break the bank to run.
