Jaguar XF facelift leaked

Text: Ben Foulds / Photos: jokeforblog.blogspot.com

11th April 2011

The Cat’s out of the bag! This image purporting to depict the facelifted Jaguar XF has been leaked onto the internet ahead of its planned debut at this month’s New York motor show.

Sporting a new front end similar to that of its larger XJ sibling, the updated XF bins the large wraparound headlamps of the current model in favour of the narrower units first seen on the C-XF concept. In so doing, the XF now appears closer to how we expected it to when it was launched in 2007.

Featuring in the new XF will be Jaguar’s new 188bhp 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which we've driven here. The oil-burner offers a claimed combined economy of 52.3mpg, with CO2 emissions of 149g/km.

The facelifted XF is due to hit dealerships in September this year.

How can you claim that the image is 'purporting' to be the facelifted XF, when it's quite obviously a proper picture ?
This is coming from the magazine that regularly claims 'scoop shots of the next ....' when all you have is an artists impression of a car, or even better when you have "New.... caught on test" and the picture is of a 6 year old model with some sticky tape on the bonnet

get a grip !

The actual ligths are far better looking, far more agresive, no no jaguar it does not look better, but conservative! sad, am i glad i have the one now!

Zzzzzz

gmlens, i couldnt agree more, this is dull. Yes, the original XF didn't quite look like the concept, but this does and it's duller than dull. Why tamper with a winner, and the current XF certainly is. This is a backward step IMO, yes Autoexpress it does look like the 2007 concept.....but it's now 2011......

I think it finally looks right at the front! great looking car, but it always had an old polo, or worse, chinese nose slapped on. this is way more elegant and sporty!

its down to individual tastes you either like it or not. i wouldn;t mind either. The previous headlights looked like an achilles heal in the overall design but at the end it just seem to resolve into a better looking car compared to what is out there. this new one only time will tell but i don't like this cut and paste job a lot of car companies are doing. this is just an attempt to boost the sales more and if the 550bhp XF-RS rumours are real then looking like this, it will look fast just standing stationary.

FINALLY!!! They fixed the front of an ugly car. This is a big improvement.

Wow, what a nice look, I do like this car very much, and it is an eye catcher whilst driving in Europe, especially Italy!! A nie enhancement to this great car, despite what everyone else says!

Rover 600? One takes it you have never driven or owned a jaguar or ever likely to aspire to one!

Rover 600

In my opinion he's right and I've driven more Jags than you've had hot dinners Jag1981.

Surrey Vulture

Don't like the radiator grille, not aggressive enough for a Jag.

Looking at the "spy" shot and the current model in the Jag ad next to it I like the new lights look sharper less fussy.
As for the grille it seems to have a bolder appearance with the silver finish as shown on the new model. I assume the running lights are the "blades" in the lower part of the bumper

When ever I look at reader comments on motoring magazine web pages I'm always reminded of the Matt Lucas character on Little Britain "Dont like it!"

By hampson10 on 12 April, 2011, 8:57pm

Rather agree hampson10. I love Jags though never had one nor likely to. The XF is superb and very desirable and the update will look fine. Do think it is still not quite as good as it could be at the front...a touch of the old small Rover 200 series about it. Do wish manufacturers would have the guts to go with their original designs. Anyway, more desirable than anything the Germans are doing, despite their engineering prowess. Jaguar forever!
