Another Porsche is turning to the dark side! The German firm has revealed that the Panamera will follow in the Cayenne’s footsteps with a fuel-sipping diesel version bound for showrooms. And Porsche claims the four-door oil-burner is capable of travelling 745 miles - the distance from Land End to Loch Ness - on a single tank.
The engine is the same 3.0-litre V6 unit as the Cayenne but with 7bhp more, for total of 247bhp, and 550Nm of torque. Only available with rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed auto ‘box as standard, the newcomer is capable of 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 150mph.
Of more interest to buyers though is the combined fuel efficiency of 43.5mpg, 2mpg better than the faster S Hybrid, and CO2 emissions of 172g/km.
Standard kit includes leather upholstery, adjustable suspension and touch-screen sat-nav, with prices starting from £62,134 when it arrives at dealerships in August - undercutting the V6 petrol model by £649.
