Skoda has launched two special editions of the Rapid saloon. The Rapid SE Connect and Rapid Sport have both been fitted with unique styling features additional kit worth thousands of pounds when specced individually.
Based on the 85bhp 1.2-litre TSI petrol SE model, the limited edition Rapid SE Connect is available in either silver or blue colour tones, and features 16-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, satellite navigation and a DAB radio as standard. The enhanced spec adds up to £1,945 worth of kit with Rapid Connect SE priced at £12,990 – a £1,720 saving over the model it's based on – but is limited to a run of just 800 models.
The more powerful Rapid Sport – available only in white – uses a 104bhp version of the same 1.2-litre petrol engine and is fitted with larger 17-inch black alloy wheels, sunset glass, front fog lights, sports seats, steel pedals plus black door mirrors and rear spoiler. The additions add up to £1,250, with the Rapid Sport priced at £15,630 – £280 more than the model it’s based on, with a production run is even tighter, and limited to just 200 models.
The Sport is similar to the hugely popular Fabia Monte Carlo editions, which featured contrasting colours, stripes and other racy accessories, but neither of these versions will be offered on the car's newer sister model, the Rapid Spaceback. Both limited edition models are on sale now, with first deliveries of the Rapid Sport expected in February and the Rapid Connect SE in March.
