These are the latest pictures to emerge of the all-new Toyota Aygo city car, which is not scheduled to arrive in showrooms until late in 2014.
Although these spy shots of a pre-production mule were taken at long range with a telephoto lens and the car is heavily camouflaged, it is still possible to make out that this is the more practical five-door version, confirming that two body styles are likely to be offered.

The new Aygo also looks slightly longer than the current model with a wider track and a lowered stance to help improve its grip and handling. Toyota will continue with the new 'Keen Look' styling from the latest Auris and RAV4 models with a wide lower air intake, angular headlights and a prominent Toyota badge.
At the rear, new high-mounted brake lights will make the Aygo more visible in traffic, while also making room for a larger, more flexible boot opening.
Power is rumoured to come from a revised version of the three-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine featured in the current car, but expect CO2 emissions to fall significantly and fuel economy to improve as well, thanks to Toyota’s focus on weight reduction helping to improve the Aygo's dynamics and efficiency.
In Toyota's drive to offer petrol-electric hybrid technology on every model in the range, a battery-assisted version of the new Aygo seems highly likely and it could feature rechargeable lithium-ion units to help cut CO2 emissions to as little as 50g/km.
Expect a big improvement in interior space thanks to superior packaging and also a jump in interior build quality and standard equipment levels. Expect more options for customisation in terms of colours and trims, too.
We expect the new Toyota Aygo to go on sale in 2014. The Toyota Aygo price won't be released for some time, but with stiff competition coming from the likes of the SEAT Mii, Skoda Citigo and VW up! we would expect Toyota to keep the new Aygo's price competitive, starting from around £8000.
