Is the Vauxhall Adam good enough to compete with the big-selling MINI? Steve Fowler put it through its paces to find out

The all-new Vauxhall Adam city car is set to go head-to-head with popular rivals like the MINI and Audi A1.

Rather than opting for a retro approach, Vauxhall has gone for a very modern design. It also offers a great price and a myriad of trim, colour and interior options – there are 30,000 combinations in total.

The Adam will be offered with three petrol engines, with a small turbocharged unit arriving at a later date. But is it good enough to compete with established rivals when it comes to quality, appeal and driver enjoyment?

Editor-in-chief Steve Fowler travelled to Portugal to put it to the test - watch the video and read our review to find out the verdict.

I have a MINI and am not too concerned about boot space. With the seats folded down I took my old kitchen to the tip, and my old bathroom, just needed a couple of extra trips thats all. The Adam's looks a similar size, but the sill looks really high, which would be a bit of a pain.

How much did you guys get for the Apple product placement?

Yes,could do without the gratuitous Apple plugs! A rather pointless small car -impractical, cramped even in the front (unless your tester is about 8 feet tall ?), and perhaps trying too hard. The Issigonis Mini had it right.... all later imitations and parodies (yes, i mean you BMW) completely miss the point.

This car will sell in vast numbers for the market it is aimed at........The young.
For "tried and trusted engines"
See old and out dated.

Not a bad looking car as long as you dont go all stupid and spec it like this guy.rear seat room?who cares if they want to moan about it they should get their own cars.
