All the best new car deals in the UK right now, with finance offers and list price savings on the best cars on sale today

New car sales are continuing to rise in the UK, thanks mainly to the growing number of eye-catching new car deals and finance offers that the majority of manufacturers are now offering. With so many available it can be hard to choose the one that's right for you though, so to help we've picked out some of the best new car deals of 2016.

Owning a new car could provide lower running costs from better fuel economy and a cheaper tax bill thanks to reduced CO2 emissions. Plus you could get a brand new car with a PCP package offering 0% APR interest rates, or with a deposit from zero to just a couple of hundred pounds.

• Car finance deals explained

The sheer amount of new car deals on offer can be a little overwhelming, but that’s where we can help. We’ve complied a list of the all the top finance deals on offer at the moment, from superminis to SUVs and family cars to executives, there’s something for all tastes and budgets on many of the finest models around. Our picks aren’t just the best deals out there, but the best deals on the best cars. We’ve focused our attention on models that performed particularly well in our 2015 Driver Power survey and our 2015 New Car Awards.

Best selling cars of 2016

Although the car deals go through regular updates through the manufacturers and car brokers, the numbers below give you a clear idea of what you can expect to pay for each model. Always be prepared to haggle – as there’s usually a little room for manoeuvre on the prices quoted. We’ve also provided an 'aim-to-pay' price courtesy of buyacar.co.uk. This should be used as a guide when negotiating with a salesman.

So read on below for our round up of all the best new car deals available right now.

Also, don't forget to read our list of the cheapest cars to insure and our round-up of the best car leasing deals.

Best city car deals

SEAT Mii deals

SEAT’S Mii is pitched as a more stylish, youthful choice than its Volkswagen up! and Skoda Citigo sister models in the VW Group city car trio. For that reason, the firm joined forces with Spanish fashion brand Mango to make a special edition. The Mii by Mango has plenty of kit and two unique colours – and it can be yours for only £85 per month if you don’t find it all too cheesy.

Model: SEAT Mii by Mango
Monthly payments: £85
List price: £11,155
Aim to pay: £10,850
Deposit: £3,194
APR: 0 per cent
No. of payments: 36 monthly
Final payment: £85
Total amount: £11,155

Volkswagen up! deals

The up! is simply one of the best pound-for-pound new cars around, and while its SEAT Mii and Skoda Citigo sister models offer slightly better value, neither has the draw of the VW badge. Paying £95 per month for a mid-level Move up! – the spec we’d pick – is very reasonable indeed. The £149 two-year, 20,000-mile servicing deal is very attractive, too.

Model: Volkswagen up! 1.0 60ps Move up
Monthly payments: £95
List price: £9,925
Aim to pay: £9,078
Deposit: £1,819
APR: 6.9 per cent
No. of payments: 48 monthly
Final payment: £3,699
Total amount: £10,964

Skoda Citigo deals

The Citigo is one of the best new cars on the market, with space, effortless manoeuvrability and very low running costs. Skoda’s deal is clearly focused on younger drivers, by offering a £149 deposit and £149 monthly payments over 42 months at zero per cent. That’s on the SE model, which is the sweet spot in the range. Skoda often runs free insurance deals, too.

Model: Skoda Citigo 1.0 MPI 60ps SE 3dr
Monthly payments: £149
List price: £9,635
Aim to pay: £8,871
Deposit: £149
APR: 0 per cent
No. of payments: 42 monthly
Final payment: £3,377
Total amount: £9,635

Best supermini deals

Volkswagen Polo deals

A £1,400 deposit contribution from VW goes some way to mitigating the relatively high 6.8 per cent APR of this PCP deal on its Polo. Even so, a £119 payment does look great value for a supermini that, despite its age – the current model was introduced in 2009 – still leads the class for refinement and cabin quality. That ageing status also means you’ll be able to negotiate a discount more easily with the dealer.

Model: Volkswagen Polo S 1.0 60
Monthly payments: £119
List price: £11,300
Aim to pay: £9,929
Deposit: £1,816
APR: 6.8 per cent
No. of payments: 48 monthly
Final payment: £4,099
Total amount: £12,918

Ford Fiesta deals

The Fiesta didn’t become the UK’s best-seller without a little financial assistance. That support continues here to the tune of a £1,060 deposit contribution, a £500 price cut and low-rate finance. For £125 more, you can add the Convenience Pack (keyless entry and puddle lights) – saving £325. This Titanium model already features auto lights and wipers, plus air-con.

Model: Ford Fiesta 1.0 80 S&S Titanium 3dr
Monthly payments: £159
List price: £14,195
Aim to pay: £12,396
Deposit: £3,417
APR: 0.90 per cent
No. of payments: 23 monthly
Final payment: £6,031
Total amount: £13,284

MINI deals

Thanks to its quality and carefully honed image, the MINI remains far more desirable than other cars in its class, so it retains its value very well. And that means it’s cheaper to buy than you might think. Put down a £2,138 deposit, and over four years you’ll pay £179 per month. The 10,000-mile annual limit is generous and excess-mileage charges are low. This deal includes a £1,000 deposit contribution, while MINI offers cut-price servicing packages, too.

Model: MINI Cooper
Monthly payments: £179
List price: £15,485
Aim to pay: £15,485
Deposit: £2,138
APR: 5.9 per cent
No. of payments: 48 monthly
Final payment: £6,057
Total amount: £17,609

Best deals on small SUVs

Nissan Qashqai deals

The Qashqai N-Connecta is packed to the rafters with kit, including LED daytime running lights, a panoramic sunroof, all-around parking assist, automatic city braking and touchscreen navigation. So, it looks an absolute bargain at £175 a month, especially as the deal is over a relatively short two-year term. The £6,000 deposit is substantial, although some Nissan dealerships are offering a contribution to cushion the blow, and there’s also room for negotiation on the sticker price.

Model: Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dCi 110 N-Connecta
Monthly payments: £175
List price: £23,730
Aim to pay: £23,730
Deposit: £6,658
APR: 0 per cent
No. of payments: 25 monthly
Final payment: £12,872
Total amount: £23,730

Renault Captur deals

The Captur compact crossover impresses with its breadth of abilities, combining a spacious and flexible cabin with surprising dynamic ability – it’s better in every way than the Nissan JukeRenault tends to set up its special offers over long terms, but if you’re willing to take a four-year payment plan, then a £179 deposit and £179 per month appears a great deal for a great car.

Model: Renault Captur Expression+ TCe 90
Monthly payments: £179
List price: £14,295
Aim to pay: £13,190
Deposit: £179
APR: 5.9 per cent
No. of payments: 49 monthly
Final payment: £6,064
Total amount: £12,871

Skoda Yeti deals

A relatively small boot and ageing cabin don’t alter the fact that the Yeti is excellent to drive, hugely capable off-road and, with the 108bhp 2.0-litre TDI engine, very cost-effective to run. Quality is everything we’ve come to expect from Skoda, too. The brand’s promoting a £750 deposit contribution on petrol models only, but you’ll still enjoy zero per cent finance over 42 months with the TDI.

Model: Skoda Yeti SE 2.0 TDI 110
Monthly payments: £225
List price: £20,385
Aim to pay: £18,079
Deposit: £3,019
APR: 0 per cent
No. of payments: 42 monthly
Final payment: £8,141
Total amount: £20,385

Best family hatchback deals

SEAT Leon deals

The Leon was our Car of the Year in 2013, and it’s still right up there. It has nine-tenths of the quality and class of the Volkswagen Golf with which it shares a platform, and it’s more stylish and rewarding to drive. So, if you can find the £4,437 deposit, a £149 monthly payment for an SE Tech Pack car (including those stunning LED headlights) seems dirt cheap.

Model: SEAT Leon 1.2 TSI 110 SE Tech Pack
Monthly payments: £149
List price: £17,700
Aim to pay: £16,887
Deposit: £4,437
APR: 0 per cent
No. of payments: 41 monthly
Final payment: £6,654
Total amount: £17,200

Volkswagen Golf deals

It may be the benchmark in the family hatchback class for refinement and cabin quality, but the Golf is cheaper to buy than you’d think. Match trim includes alloys and air-conditioning, as well as extras such as parking sensors and cruise control. The 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine is a peach, plus Volkswagen is offering a £1,250 deposit contribution.

Model: Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI Match
Monthly payments: £195
List price: £21,595
Aim to pay: £21,595
Deposit: £5,068
APR: 4.9 per cent
No. of payments: 48 monthly
Final payment: £8,366
Total amount: £23,860

Skoda Octavia deals

There are few family hatches with the Octavia’s solidity, versatility and practicality. Skoda owners consistently tell us the car is reliable, too – it finished 11th in our Driver Power 2015 satisfaction survey. The 1.2 TSI petrol turbo appears underpowered on paper, but it’s characterful and keen to rev. A £1,000 deposit contribution and zero per cent finance add to its appeal.

Model: Skoda Octavia SE 1.2 TSI
Monthly payments: £215
List price: £18,170
Aim to pay: £16,107
Deposit: £1,818
APR: 0 per cent
No. of payments: 42 monthly
Final payment: £6,537
Total amount: £18,170

Ford Focus deals

The Ford Focus is one of our favourite hatchbacks, as it’s great to drive, comfortable and practical. In Titanium trim (featuring Active City Stop, an eight-inch touchscreen and active cruise control) with the frugal but reasonably nippy 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, it’s more impressive still. Yet the good news doesn’t end there. Ford offers the car on a PCP package, with low-rate finance, a £1,570 deposit contribution and a £1,000 price cut, making the Focus look irresistible. As the icing on the cake, buyers can add the brand’s SYNC2 DAB navigation for £300.

Model: Ford Focus 1.0 100 Titanium 5dr
Monthly payments: £209
List price: £19,920
Aim to pay: £16,642
Deposit: £4,721
APR: 0.90 per cent
No. of payments: 23 monthly
Final payment: £8,797
Total amount: £18,554

Honda Civic deals

If you can look beyond the Honda Civic’s Marmite styling, you’ll find a family hatch that’s beautifully built, comfortable, fun to drive and loaded with kit. The 1.6 i-DTEC is the engine to have, as it’s powerful and very economical. Honda is offering a generous £2,000 deposit contribution, plus an optional five-year servicing package for £555 (saving £875).

Model: Honda Civic 1.6 i-DTEC Sport
Monthly payments: £229
List price: £21,715
Aim to pay: £19,380
Deposit: £4,237
APR: 5.9 per cent
No. of payments: 35 monthly
Final payment: £9,435
Total amount: £23,917

Kia Cee’d deals

This deal on Kia’s family hatchback is made even sweeter by the fact it’s on the new 1.0-litre T-GDI three-cylinder petrol version, which claims impressive fuel economy of 57.6mpg. The Cee’d isn’t the sharpest car to drive, but it is stylish, well made and generously equipped. Plus, 2 trim brings air-con, cruise control, alloy wheels and a DAB radio. That zero per cent finance is welcome, as is the £900 cut on the sticker price.

Model: Kia Cee’d 1.0 T-GDI 2
Monthly payments: £233
List price: £17,945
Aim to pay: £16,306
Deposit: £4,450
APR: 0 per cent
No. of payments: 23 monthly
Final payment: £6,991
Total amount: £17,045

Mazda 3 deals

Great to drive, with a superb cabin and high-quality feel, the Mazda 3 is one of the most satisfying family hatches around. Zero per cent finance offers make it even more appealing, and as even base SE cars have essentials such as alloys and air-con, a £239 monthly payment with an £1,800 deposit seems great value. That includes a £1,000 contribution from Mazda.

Model: Mazda 3 SE 120PS
Monthly payments: £239
List price: £18,055
Aim to pay: £16,011
Deposit: £1,876
APR: 0 per cent
No. of payments: 36 monthly
Final payment: £6,575
Total amount: £18,055

Vauxhall Astra deals

With the Astra being a brand-new model, there’s perhaps less room for a discount at the moment than there will be in, say, a couple of years’ time. Vauxhall is offering a mere £217.77 off the list price of an SRi now, for example. Still, the brand’s interest rates are low, so the payments on this excellent family hatchback are very reasonable: £249 over 36 months, if you can live with the 8,000-mile annual limit.

Model: Vauxhall Astra SRi 1.0 Turbo
Monthly payments: £249
List price: £18,337
Aim to pay: £17,875
Deposit: £2,499
APR: 2.9 per cent
No. of payments: 36 monthly
Final payment: £7,290
Total amount: £19,384

Audi A3 deals

The A3 scores well in many areas – not least its comfortable ride, peerless quality and immense desirability. Thanks to the premium hatch’s strong residuals and Audi’s generous £2,500 deposit contribution, you can get behind the wheel of the punchy yet economical 1.4 TFSI Sport Nav model with a little over £2,000 of your own money up front, then £250 per month. This car comes with sat-nav and promises luxury and value for money in one package.

Model: Audi A3 1.4 TFSI Sport Nav
Monthly payments: £249
List price: £22,115
Aim to pay: £20,375
Deposit: £3,924
APR: 6.9 per cent
No. of payments: 36 monthly
Final payment: £11,525
Total amount: £24,141

BMW 1 Series deals

No, it isn’t a mistake: you can have a BMW 118i M Sport for £348 down and £349 per month. Admittedly it’s over four years, but you won’t tire of the quality, performance and driver involvement. The deal has been made possible by BMW’s £1,335 deposit contribution. Alternatively, you can put down £4,199 and reduce monthly payments to £259.

Model: BMW 1 Series 118i M Sport 5dr
Monthly payments: £349
List price: £24,160
Aim to pay: £24,160
Deposit: £348
APR: 5.9 per cent
No. of payments: 47 monthly
Final payment: £9,819
Total amount: £27,893

Best deals on SUVs & crossovers

Volvo XC90 deals

The Volvo XC90 is the reigning Auto Express Car of the Year, and with good reason. Momentum trim features a host of hi-tech safety features as standard, as well as leather, swivelling headlights and a huge touchscreen. No wonder Volvo doesn’t feel the need to introduce great finance offers to shift the car, but it does at least bundle three years’ free servicing into its PCP deal.

Model: Volvo XC90 D5 Momentum
Monthly payments: £499
List price: £46,950
Aim to pay: £46,950
Deposit: £8,132
APR: 5.9 per cent
No. of payments: 36 monthly
Final payment: £26,675
Total amount: £52,771

Range Rover Sport deals

Land Rover has no need to pull in the punters with alluring offers on the Range Rover Sport; this SUV sells itself. Still, the brand offers keen-looking deals at 5.9 per cent interest, with flexible payment options – you choose your deposit and duration terms. Land Rover’s website also includes a useful slider function, so you can set up the deal yourself online.

Model: Range Rover Sport 3.0 SDV6 HSE
Monthly payments: £599

Aim to pay: £61,214
Deposit: £14,370

Best family car deals

Volkswagen Passat deals

Volkswagen’s Passat was crowned European Car of the Year 2015, and although this S version is the base model, it’s a better-equipped entry-level car than most, with alloys, an infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth and DAB radio. Buy it with a 1.6-litre TDI diesel, and the car claims 70.6mpg, plus the brand is offering fixed-price servicing for just £15.99 per month.

Model: Volkswagen Passat 1.6 TDI 120ps S
Monthly payments: £215
List price: £22,320
Aim to pay: £19,012

Total amount: £25,006

BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer deals

The Gran Tourer is not only good to drive, it’s also spacious and capable of withstanding years of family abuse. That’s good because BMW’s deal requires you to run our quoted example for four years, albeit at a reasonable £279 per month and with a deposit of less than £4,000. The brand sweetens the deal with low-rate finance and a deposit contribution of £760.

Model: BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer 218i Sport
Monthly payments: £279
List price: £26,260
Aim to pay: £22,260
Deposit: £3,956

Total amount: £28,107

Skoda Superb deals

Executive car refinement and quality are combined with limo space and the practicality of a hatch in the Superb. Add to that excellent value (especially lower in the range), and it’s difficult to be critical. Skoda isn’t quite stretching to zero per cent finance, but it will give you a £2,000 deposit contribution – making an SE-spec Superb available for just £319 per month.

Model: Skoda Superb 1.6 TDI S
Monthly payments: £319
List price: £21,725
Aim to pay: £19,128

No. of payments: 42 monthly
Final payment: £7,985
Total amount: £23,028

Hyundai i40 deals

The Hyundai i40 is the dark horse of the family saloon class, being overshadowed by newer rivals. That’s a shame because it looks good, is extremely roomy and comes with lots of standard equipment. Our featured SE Nav version promises 67.3mpg, too. Kit includes a touchscreen sat-nav and all-round parking sensors, plus there’s a £1,500 deposit contribution.

Model: Hyundai i40 1.7 CRDi 115 Blue Drive SE Nav

Mazda 6 deals

Mazda’s 6 serves up an alluring combination of space, style and quality, while the SkyActiv diesel engine range and weight-saving technology keep down costs. Mazda is offering a whopping £2,500 deposit contribution, meaning reasonable payments, although the 9,000-mile annual limit is low and the excess mileage charges are a hefty 14.9p per mile.

Model: Mazda 6 2.2 D 150 Sport Nav

Lexus IS deals

With its distinctive styling, sporty handling and hi-tech cabin, the IS is a genuine alternative to German rivals. SE specification has all the kit you’d expect, including alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control and a media display. Lexus’ zero per cent finance offer is a welcome gesture that, with a decent deposit, helps to keep monthly payments reasonable.

Model: Lexus IS 300h SE
Monthly payments: £269
List price: £28,995
Aim to pay: £26,674
Deposit: £8,000

Final payment: £14,813
Total amount: £28,995

Audi A4 deals

This A4’s financial appeal doesn’t begin and end with a £2,500 deposit contribution from Audi; as the Ultra model, it also claims strong 72.4mpg fuel economy, while CO2 emissions of 102g/km mean low road tax bills. The fact the compact exec is also beautifully built, comfortable and endowed with a stylish and technology-rich cabin is the icing on the cake.

Model: Audi A4 2.0 TDI Ultra 190 Sport
Monthly payments: £319
List price: £31,645
Aim to pay: £27,862

BMW 5 Series deals

When it comes to maker deposit contributions, the 5 Series just about leads the way, at a huge £6,113. Put down your own £5,749, and for £329 per month over four years (a blink of an eye for a car of the 5 Series’ quality), you can be in the best version: this 520d, in racy M Sport trim. Regardless of spec, the BMW scores on space, comfort and refinement.

Model: BMW 5 Series 520d M Sport

Jaguar XE deals

Jaguar is determined to crack the compact exec market. And it’s certainly got a great product: the new XE has all the qualities keen drivers appreciate, as well as tax-friendly running costs. But the brand’s taking nothing for granted, and has sharpened its pen to the tune of a £1,910 deposit contribution to give monthly payments of £338. That’s competitive with the Audi A4, although BMW is determined to trump both rivals with its 3 Series deals.

Model: Jaguar XE 2.0d 180 Prestige
Monthly payments: £338
List price: £31,275
Aim to pay: £29,012

Mercedes C-Class deals

Mercedes is offering a generous deposit contribution of nearly £3,000 at the moment on the new C-Class, so if you’ve got £5,000 of your own to put down, you can get a C 220d in Sport spec for a good-value £349 a month. That buys you the classiest cabin in the compact executive sector, as well as claimed fuel economy of more than 70mpg. And while Sport trim brings all the equipment you’ll need, we’d pay a little extra for the comfort of an auto box and take the small economy hit.

Model: Mercedes C-Class C 220d Sport
Monthly payments: £349
List price: £32,815
Aim to pay: £28,543

Audi A6 deals

The Audi A6 is one of our favourite execs: a great all-rounder with a smart cabin and fast but frugal engines. The Ultra 190 is particularly economical, and this manual model returns 65.7mpg. However, that’s not the whole story, because Audi’s also seen fit to sweeten the car’s appeal with a large £4,500 deposit contribution, plus a competitive APR of 4.9 per cent.

Model: Audi A6 2.0 TDI Ultra 190 S line
Monthly payments: £349

Mazda MX-5 deals

Striking looks, superb dynamics and reasonable costs ensure the latest MX-5 lives up to the legend. It bucked the trend by being smaller and lighter than before, for better handling and efficiency. Put down a 50 per cent deposit, and you can pay the other half at zero per cent interest over 36 months. Otherwise, it’s around £2,000 in interest payments with a 5.9 per cent PCP.

Model: Mazda MX-5 SE 131PS
Monthly payments: £299
List price: £19,155
Aim to pay: £17,197

Toyota GT86 deals

What the GT86 lacks in power it makes up for with a balanced driving experience. Toyota’s more expansive dealer network makes the GT86 more appealing than its Subaru BRZ sister car for many, so the fact that Toyota is offering the better finance rates of the two brands should seal the deal. Put down £2,765, and you can have a GT86 for £438 a month.

Model: Toyota GT86 2.0 Boxer Aero
Monthly payments: £438
