Sporting a more aggressive front end, plus new air vents on the wings, the car also gets lower body sills and a subtle rear spoiler.
Inside, the cabin features new seats along with improved technology, including Bluetooth phone connections. The new chairs are not only claimed to offer greater comfort, but there's more room for rear-seat passengers, thanks to their more slender backs.
Under the skin, the XJ's aluminium chassis remains unchanged, as does the car's air-suspension and engine line-up. This includes the 2.7-litre V6 twin-turbodiesel and the 400bhp 4.2-litre supercharged petrol V8.
Buyers will, however, have an even greater choice of options when it comes to personalising their car. As well as three brand new exterior colours, the XJ will offer three different 19-inch alloy wheel designs.
Due on sale in May, Jaguar says it is too early to reveal exact prices for the newcomer. But it's expected that the upgrades will amount to an extra £2,000, meaning entry-level models will cost around £45,000.
