Following its starring role in the latest 007 film, Casino Royale, the racy Mondeo driven by Daniel Craig is being made part of the blue oval's new family car range.
With a host of styling enhancements, the big-screen version certainly stood out in the movie - and drew admiring glances at the Geneva show, where it was displayed alongside the new Mondeo line-up.
Buyers will be able to tap into that glamour by ordering a special new trim level that will see their Mondeo fitted with the same five-spoke alloys, front splitter, unique chrome grille and side skirts as the 007 version. A chunky rear end with venturi-style tunnels, chrome exhausts and bootlid spoiler also features.
When pictures of the film car were first leaked (Issue 932), it was thought it hinted at the look of the Mondeo ST - but Ford says it has no plans for such a flagship. However, with power from the Focus ST's 217bhp turbo, plus a forthcoming 173bhp PSA Peugeot Citroen-sourced diesel, the Mondeo will pack a punch. Further info on the new variant will follow later this year.
