1. Toyota 1/X Top of the bill is the 1/X, which has a skeletal look to expose various environmental and safety innovations. With a rigid body that’s a third of the weight of the current Prius, the 1/X has a 500cc petrol and ethanol-powered engine and a plug-in hybrid electric motor to give a low CO2 output and great economy.

2. Toyota RIN Next up is a vehicle designed to give drivers a healthier lifestyle. The RiN generates ‘positive bio-rhythms’ for occupants; its heated seats feature a self-adjusting thermostat, while an oxygen density conditioner keeps the cabin environment perfect. The car also has ultra-violet and infra-red-treated windows to reduce harmful rays. A finishing touch is green-tinted glass, which ensures that the scenery is always ‘greener’ and more appealing than it actually is.

3. Toyota Hi-CT The inspiration for the Hi-CT (pronounced Hi-City) concept is the shape of a gorilla! Its battery pack is fitted under the floor, and the hybrid can be recharged simply by plugging into the mains.

4. Toyota i-REAL One concept that’s closer to production is the i-REAL. The one-seater three-wheeler has two modes. In ‘walking’ setting, it provides an upright position, while in ‘sprint’ mode, it squats down for speeds of more than 25mph.
