05-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year
I drive a 2005 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Ghia X Estate. I have owned a wide variety of cars in my life and this is by far the best. It rides very smoothly even with the 17" alloys. Very complient yet also very surefooted and inspires confidence. The handling is spot on even on rough roads it remains composed. My previous Honda Accord tourer was extremely fidgety over bumps especially mid cornering it would really upset the cars composure, this is not the case with the mondeo. Inside the car has all the toys and comforts you will ever need. Suede adn leather heated and ventilated seats, sony 6cd changer with mp3 socket, all electrics, climate control and cruise control. The stereo is one of the best factory fitted units I have heard with excellent bass and clarity. The seats are the comfiest I have ever sat in. They offer excellent back support and hold you in place when cornering. My Skoda Superb did not have good back support in the seats unlike the mondeo which provides support all the way up to the shoulders. The rear legroom is excellent and comes in very handy when trying to fit car seats. There is plenty room for any car seat to fit without having to adjust the front seats. Also the boot is massive and easy to access. Swallows up prams and weekly shopping trips with ease. The rear seats are also very easy to fold flat leaving a truly massive load area. Acceleration is progressive and power delivery is smooth and relaxed. This easily outperforms the 2.0 petrol mondeo. The 6 speed gearbox is smooth and easy to use. 6th gear is a must for motorway driving and I have seen over 55mpg on a journey. The car averages around 46mpg which for a car this size is amazing. Starts first time every time. ALso the heated front and rear screens are a godsend in the winter months. My car is fitted with tinted windows side and rear and this has eliminated the wind noise which frustrated me with my previous mondeo estate. I would recommend having professional laminated window tints fitted. Overall a superbly equipped and very capable estate. I would rate this above any other estate car available on the market today. For the money you will not get a more reliable or comfortable well equipped estate. This is far superior to the Honda Accord 2.2 CTDI Executive tourer, Toyota Avensis, Vauxhall Vectra, VW Passat and pretty much all other estates in its category. I would say haven driven alot of cars this is even better than the x-type tourer, volvo v70 and bmw 3 series. The Ghia X spec is very nicely finished and looks really nice with the alloys and chrome detailing. If you are needing a reliable good looking family load lugger then look no further than the Ford Mondeo Estate.

Typical reliable Ford - extremely comfortable, practical, stylish
well finished and a good drivers car. On the downside the doors are very large and heavy making exiting the vehicle very difficult in tight car parking spaces. My wife is very small and finds opening the doors very daunting. The paintwork finish looked good when new but is very thin and minor scratches and stone chips have removed the top layer of lacquer and topcoat leaving the undercoat showing. As the car is so large it also attracts many scratches in
car parks. I love Fords and have owned/driven 6 or 7 different models over the last 39 years and have always found them to be excellent drivers cars. The main downside is depreciation.

This is a Ford, so a was a little apprehensive since previously owning Nissans!! I am astonished by its total reliability and comfort. Nothing has gone wrong. Only a battery, some pads and tyres. It is a 2.5 Ghia Estate yet for the peanuts price I paid as a one year old car, it gives so much comfort, practicality and has been totally reliable for the 75,000 miles so far covered. A willing workhorse (it has moved the contents of houses!)with warmed seats in winter, cooled seats in summer, safe and fast in all weathers! What a surprise!! Fantastic!

Roomy large estate. Good economy and performance from the 2.2 litre engine. Warning light came on for drivers airbag intermittently but this has cleared itself. Only real complaint is that it is noisy in the cabin compared to my previous cars (Diesel laguna and citroen c5). This makes listening to speech on the radio difficult on motorways with the radio at a reasonable volume.

Great load lugger and m/way cruiser and good passenger comfort.Noisy diesel from cold spoils driving experience but performance good especially handling/stability/steering but
jiggly low speed ride. Starts first time every morning- only major problem was an injector failure - ok since.Rear view poor - sensors a must. Autobox wearing well - fingers crossed- 40 mpg if careful.

A good all-rounder with bags of space. Lots of pace and torque thanks to the TDCi engine. Very practical, easy to drive and park. Comfortable seats that don't leave you feeling tired after a long drive.
Not quite as frugal as I had expected, but still perfectly acceptable. Good road tax prices considering the size of car/engine combo.
I would definitely buy another.

Brilliantly versatile. Eats up motorway miles, puts a smile on your face on country roads and carries huge loads. Very comfortable, exceptionally strong and safe. If only it weren't so heavy on company car tax (my next car will have to be <120g/km!). Th engine doesn't sound good at low speed, but once underway, it's quiet and serene.

Our car was purchased as we had a new addition to the family and needed something bigger. We have the ST estate and it far exceeded our expectations. It is a fantastic size, economical for a powerful car and is very comfortable. We've had no real problems other than the jacking point covers coming off and needing to be replaced.

Considering its age excellent reliability. Always starts first time. Still very comfortable on long trips. But if I was to have another Mondeo it will be a diesel with a manual gearbox. No more petrol automatics. Too thirsty. But I really love this car even though its a bit old fashioned looking now.

Very good overall has been very reliable apart from battery replacement. Good performance (Ihave the ST24 version) but bit of a firm ride.Low use has probably been responible for battery failure otherwise very pleased with it and would definitely consider buying similar ford again.

Practical & relatively ecconomic to run, I've seen 54mpg at a steady 70-80mph on a motorway run.
18" tyres are a bit pricey to replace.
It's stylish & suits the family down to the ground.
For the price though it should be screwed together a little better.
All in all a good car !
