Art Cars are normally the preserve of BMW. But Audi has got in on the act by commissioning superstar British artist Damien Hirst to create a one-off A1.
Hirst took delivery of one of the first cars built by the German firm, and created a new look heavily influenced by the artist’s famous spin painting technique.
The finished car, and accompanying 1.8-metre high painting, were then donated to Sir Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara Ball, where they were auctioned for the musician’s AIDs charity, netting a winning bid of £350,000.
All proceeds from the auction benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation which supports thousands of men, women and children with life saving medication in 15 countries.

Pity Audi didn't spend the $$$ making the A1 look as good in the tin as the Alfa Mito or the Mini. Looks just like an chopped A4 hatch. Boring.
If Audi put a dead pickled shark in the boot, it would smell just as good as it looks. The sad thing about our "emperor's clothes" art market, is that the value of this car will almost certainly increase for some years anyway, before the little boy says "but it is total rubbish"

Boring Rocks, can't wait for the convertible, estate and allroad versions, who cares about the art it's the cause that matters.
...the way that Damien Hirst tips a couple of cans of emulsion over an Audi A1 and suddenly it's worth £350K!!!
